Denture marking for identification.

Abstract

A method for including the patient's name in the denture base material for identification purposes has been described. This simple procedure takes little time, has almost no cost, and is effective.

New design for an artificial saliva reservoir for the mandibular complete denture.

Wearing dentures can be an extremely uncomfortable experience for people with xerostomia. Despite several ingenious designs, the problem of combining saliva substitutes with a simple, effective, and readily cleanable dispensing system has not been satisfactorily resolved. The previous difficulties were analyzed and methods of overcoming them were devised. A new design for a reservoir denture is presented that maximizes capacity and is easily maintained by the wearer.

Complete dentures for the obturator patient.

Treatment of the edentulous obturator patient requires the same basic fundamentals as used in the treatment of the complete-denture patient. Problems and considerations unique to the development, delivery, and follow-up of the complete maxillary obturator prosthesis and mandibular denture in the patient with an acquired maxillary defect are discussed. Combining laboratory and clinical research in maxillofacial prosthodontics and plastic and reconstructive surgery continues to improve the rehabilitation of these patients.
