The Ambrosiinae and more particularly Ambrosia are known as native of America. However some pollen grains of "Ambrosia type" have been found in Neogene and Quaternary sediments from SE France.
The recent suggestion by Brown and Molnar (1990) that the common etiology of sinew processing is responsible for the production of interproximal tooth grooves is contested. Based on a review of the Australian evidence and presentation of a previously undescribed dentition from Central Europe, it is argued toothpicks are a likely cause of many artificial grooves in human teeth.
Fine structural alterations of cancellous bone in all three forms of porotic hyperostosis (porotic, cribrotic, and trabecular) were examined by the authors. The architecture of cancellous bone was altered, resulting in extended and dilated medullary spaces. Single-bone trabeculae, too, differed from normal by alteration of internal collagen structure and lamellae.
