OBJECTIVES: To describe a case of organ-confined prostate cancer in a patient with hemophilia who was treated with radical prostatectomy. METHODS: We report the medical history emphasizing the haematologic, anesthetic and surgical management. RESULTS: We demonstrate that a successful retropubic radical prostatectomy may be undertaken in a hemophilic patient, without major morbidity, after performing an adequate evaluation and taking pertinent measures. CONCLUSIONS: Retropubic radical prostatectomy is a therapeutic option which can be undertaken in the treatment of hemophilic patients with organ confined prostate cancer, successfully and with low morbidity. Therefore, this therapeutic option should be considered among those to be offered to these patients.
