[Toxocariasis in the Tula region].
Serological survey of 2586 persons with suspected toxocariasis revealed Toxocara antigen titers in 644 (24.9%). Canine toxocariasis affliction was 25%, environmental Toxocara egg contamination was 3.2%. Seropositive persons were recorded in 22 of the 24 districts. A patient-carrier ratio was 1:1.6. Visceral toxocariasis was more frequently notified in children. The clinical picture was polysymptomatic with a predominance of intoxication (86%), temperature responses (49%), abdominal (37%) and pulmonary (30%) syndromes.

Cases of human gongylonemiasis (G. pulchrum) and dirofilariasis (D. repens) in Tula Province are reported. It is assumed that the source of infection is local as the patients haven't migrated anywhere outside the region during several years.

[The effect of different factors on the epidemic process in ascariasis (exemplified by Tula Province)].
An epidemiological process in ascariasis in Tula Province within a 16-year period during which there were no significant socioeconomic changes is analyzed. Improved water consumption, the scope and level of waste-water disposal and sewage treatment along with intensive efforts to detect the foci of ascariasis and with the implementation of health-promoting measures in them are shown to have the most considerable influence on the reduction in the intensity of an epidemiological process in ascariasis. These findings may be useful in gaining some insight into the efficiency of health-promoting measures in the foci where sewage treatment is inadequate and water supply is poor.

[Cases of cryptosporidiosis in Tula Province].
In Tula Province [correction of Region], the affliction of its population with cryptosporidiosis has been first estimated at 0.2%. Cryptosporidium infection has been recorded in 0.5% of cases among patients with acute gastrointestinal diseases, in 0.6% among cattle-breeders, and in 7.2% among agricultural animal (pigs). Low-immunity children under 4 years mainly suffer. Cryptosporidiosis ran as a moderate monoinfection and in one case it was severe. Two cases of cryptosporidiosis were simultaneously detected in the familial focus. The source of infection could not be established.
