Isolation and structure of diglycosylsterols and triglycosylsterols in rice bran.

Novel oligoglycosylsterols, a series of sterylglycosides, were detected in the glycolipids of rice bran, and di- and triglycosylsterols were isolated and their structures were investigated. The principal sterol components were sitosterol, campesterol and stigmasterol; glucose was the only component sugar. The major species of diglycosylsterol and triglycosylsterol were characterized as D-glucopyranosyl-(beta 1 leads to 4)-D-glucopyranosyl-(beta 1 leads to 3')-sitosterol, i.e. cellobiosylsitosterol, and D-glucopyranosyl-(beta 1 leads to 4)-D-glucopyranosyl-(beta 1 leads to 4)-D-glucopyranosyl-(beta 1 leads to 3')-sitosterol, i.e. cellotriosylsitosterol, respectively.

Chemical structures of mono-, di-, tri-, and tetraglycosyl glycerides in rice bran.

1. Monoglycosyl monoglyceride, mono-, di-, tri- and tetraglycosyl diglycerides were isolated from rice bran and characterized for their chemical structures. 2. Monoglycosyl monoglycerides were characterized as Gal(beta 1' leads to 3)-1- or 2-monoacyl-sn-glycerol and Glc(beta 1' leads to 3)-1- or 2-monoacyl-sn-glycerol. 3. The structures of monoglycosyl diglyceride were Gal(beta 1' leads to 3)-1,2-diacyl-sn-glycerol and Glc(beta 1' leads to 3)-1,2diacyl-sn-glycerol. Epimeric separation of the galactosyl and glucosyl glycerides was for the first time achieved by thin-layer chromatography. 4. The main diglycosyl diglyceride was shown to be Gal(alpha 1'' leads to 6')-Gal(beta 1' leads to 3)-1,2-diacyl-sn-glycerol. 5. The major structure of triglycosyl diglyceride was characterized as Gal(alpha 1''' leads to 6'')-Gal(alpha 1'' leads to 6')-Gal(beta 1' leads to 3)-1,2-diacyl-sn-glycerol. 6. The representative structure of tetraglycosyl diglyceride was for the first time established as Gal(alpha 1'''' leads to 6''')-Gal(alpha 1''' leads to 6'')-Gal(a-pha 1'' leads to 6')-Gal(beta1' leads to 3)-1,2-diacyl-sn-glycerol.

Structure of cerebroside in Aspergillus oryzae.

Structural studies on cerebroside isolated from Aspergillus oryzae were carried out using mainly gas-liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry. The major component fatty acids were 2-hydroxystearic and 2-hydroxy-trans-octadecenoic acid; branched 17?-methyl nonadecasphingadienine isomers were the predominant long-chain bases. The component sugar was only glucose. The structure of the major cerebrosides was assumed to be N-2'-hydroxystearoyl-1-O-glucosyl-17?-methyl sphingadienine and N-2'-hydroxyoctadecenoyl-1-O-glucosyl-17?-methyl sphingadienine.

Fatty acid composition of glycerides and stereospecific analysis of triglyceride in pea seeds.

Pea seeds were shown to contain ten kinds of neutral lipids, among which triglyceride, free sterol and sterolester are the main components and diglyceride, monoglyceride, free fatty acid, wax and some pigments are the minor ones. The major component fatty acids in the glycerides and the free fatty acid are C18:2, C18:1 and C16:0. The positional distribution of fatty acids in triglyceride is such that, position 1 and 3, especially the former, abound in saturated fatty acids, and position 2 is filled almost entirely with unsaturated fatty acids.
