[Does a pharmacological model of aging exist?].
The development of experimental models to study general or cerebral ageing comes up against great obstacles of a methodological nature. However, due to recent progress, tests can already be made on theoretical or even global models. As for Alzheimer's disease for which no natural animal model is known, new studies which involve surgical or chemical destruction of the cholinergic pathways leading to the cortex seem to be particularly promising for a better comprehension of degenerative processes in the neo-cortex.
