[Lymphangioma circumscriptum cysticum following surgical and radiologic therapy].

Four cases of lymphangioma circumscriptum cysticum are reported that developed 3-43 years after surgical or radiological therapy. Clinically, recurrent vesicles occurred in the treated areas. Manifest lymphatic edema was observed in only one case. The histologic picture showed papillary ectatic lymph vessels with no indication of proliferation or malignancy. Because of the postoperative tendency to recidivism, extensive excisions are not indicated. Manual lymph drainage was found to be effective.

[Skin absorption of volatile oils. Pharmacokinetics].

Volatile oils are frequently employed in the local treatment of pain. 1,8-Cineole, the principal component of eucalyptus oil, was used as a model substance to determine whether this active component can be detected in effective amounts at the target area in the skeletal muscles after dermal application. The investigation showed surprisingly large differences depending on the manner of application. The relative bioavailability of the model substance 1,8-cineole obtained by using an applicator was 320% as compared with that obtained by using an occlusive dressing. This has practical effects on the dosage and on the frequency of application.

[Pruritic urticarial papules and plaques in pregnancy].

PUPPP is a distinct kind of dermatosis that occurs in pregnancy and is characterized by pruritic, mostly urticarial papules. The lesions usually occur during the last trimenon and regress shortly after delivery. In contrast to other types of dermatosis in pregnancy (e.g., herpes gestationis), PUPPP is not associated with a higher incidence of fetal or maternal complications. It is relatively rare and has only occasionally been mentioned in the German literature. The clinical features and courses of eight patients are described, and the differential diagnosis is discussed with regard to other dermatoses of pregnancy.

[Teratologic studies on a low-molecular polyvinylpyrrolidone-iodine complex in rabbits].

In investigations on rabbits a low-molecular polyvinylpyrrolidone-iodine complex was tested upon its facultative teratological effects after intramuscular application. The dams showed a dose dependent loss of weight increase. The average embryo- and placenta weights of test animals were lower than those of the control animals. Some malformations in kidneys were realised, but they did not show any relation to dosage. Concerning the applied doses no teratological effect was observed.

[Pharmacokinetics and absolute bioavailability of bromopride from various pharmaceutical formulations].

Pharmacokinetics and absolute bioavailability of 4-amino-5-bromo-N-[2-(diethylamino)ethyl]-2-methoxybenzamide (bromopride, Viaben), in various preparations (bromopride injection solution, bromopride suppositories for adults, drops and capsules, respectively) in various dosages were calculated. Several investigations were performed: Study I: Absolute bioavailability of bromopride suppositories for adults (cross-over). Study 2: Pharmacokinetics of Bromopride drops after single dose of 15 and 30 mg bromopride as well as after multiple dose of 15 mg bromopride (Confarma). Study 3: Pharmacokinetics of bromopride capsules (Confarma). The chemical analysis was made for all studies with a nearly identical HPLC-method so that the results of the various studies were comparable. The studies led to the following result: The bioavailability of the substance bromopride amounts to about 70% and increases after multiple administration to about 90%. Statistically there is no difference between the bioavailabilities of the individual formulations.
