A simple tonometer tip disinfection system is described. 10% sodium hypochlorite (household bleach) in a contact lens vial is taped to the base of the Goldmann applanation tonometer. The tonometer tip is then soaked for ten minutes in this vial.
Consolidation and placement of equipment helps patient flow and increases productivity. Cross training of technicians increases the transition into the merger. The runner position saves the technician valuable time. The technician can concentrate more on patient testing and thus can increase office efficiency.
1. The incidence of keratoconus is about 1 in 2,000 in the general population, but is believed to be higher if subclinical forms are taken into account. 2. Corneal topography helps to detect keratoconus when other testing methods may have missed early signs of the disease. 3. At a time when refractive surgery is common, it is essential to identify corneal abnormalities prior to surgery.
