An evaluation scale for the antepartal cardiotocogram is suggested which is intentionally based on the Apgar scale. Five criteria were evaluated: three characteristics of the basal fetal heart rate and two characteristic, recognized alterations in heart rate. In regard to the interpretation of the basal heart rate, level, range and number of flat readings per minute are significant for the prognosis. Alterations in heart rate permit a prognostic statement depending on the form and type of the acceleration and deceleration 0-2 points are given for every characteristic so that the index can vary from 0 to 10 points. The condition of the fetus is physiologic when the index is between 8-10, the prognosis is questionable when the index is between 5 and 7 and the condition of the fetus is critical when it is 4 or lower.
Report about the experiences in termination of 25 early pregnancies by vaginal hysterectomy in cases final infertilisation was necessary. Advantages of the method are seen in avoiding dilatation of the cervix and in the calculable blood loss as compared to suction or curettage for abortion and simultaneous sterilization. In contrast to many apprehensions the risks do not seem to rise when performing vaginal hysterectomy of the pregnant uterus up to the 12th week. Advantages and criteria of the method are discussed.
Leiomyosarcomas as primary tumors are usually found in the corpus uteri or the cervix, they are extremely rare in the vagina. Case report of a 45 yr old woman with primary Leiomyosarcoma of the vagina. The cytological diagnosis was difficult, as a differentiation between Leiomyosarcoma, Melanoma and mesodermal mixed-tumor by means of cytology is not univocal. The histological diagnosis is certain. The tumor is demonstrated in its many histological and cytological aspects. The reaction to radiation is poor. Prognosis depends upon time of diagnosis and treatment and is usually unfavorable.

The technique of spray-freeze etching was applied to unicellular organisms. The superior freezing rates obtainable with this method gave excellent cryofixation on Chlorella, Euglena, and spermatozoa without the use of antifreeze agents, and cell damage due to ice crystal formation was never observed. In many instances the resultant morphology differed significantly from that obtained from glycerol-treated, freeze-etched cells. Furthermore, viability studies of spray-frozen Chlorella compared favorably with cells frozen by other methods.
