[Morphological studies into pulmonary arterioles in pregnant rabbits with experimental hypertension (author's transl)].

Arterial hypertension was evoked in pregnant rabbits by daily applications of 2.5 microgram/kg/min of CIBA hypertensin, beginning on the 16th day of pregnancy. The animals were sacrificed on the 30th day of pregnancy. Pathological changes were histological recorded from their pulmonary arterioles, particularly those between 100 and 400 micron in outer diameter. They were vascular contraction, hyperplasia of exterior and central vascular layers, oedema, elastosis as well as fibrinous and hyaline proliferation. Non-pregnant rabbits, which had received the same dose of hypertensin, died on the third day from application. Their pulmonary arterioles were found to have undergone contraction. No vascular changes were recordable from clinically intact pregnant rabbits.

[Intra-uterine foetal development and behaviour of circulating blood in pregnant rabbits with experimental hypertension (author's transl)].

The isotope method with labelled albumin 131J was applied to pregnant rabbits with pharmacologically induced hypertension to study both the volume of circulating blood and intra-uterine development of the foetus. The volume of circulating blood as well as birth-weight and head-breech length of the foetus were all reduced with statistically secured significance in the experimental group by comparison with a control group.

[Comparative studies into lipid component levels of parturients with EPH gestosis and of their newborns (author's transl)].

Statistically significant rises in LDL (low density lipoprotein) concentrations, low cholesterol levels, and total lipid levels significantly below those recorded from newborns of clinically intact mothers were established from newborns of mothers with moderate and severe EPH gestosis. The above parameters did not deviate largely from the normal in patients with moderate gestosis. The levels of total lipids, cholesterol, and LDL in the serum of the newborns were clearly lower than those recordable from the serum of the mothers.
