[Computer supported tele-X-ray diagnostics in maxillary orthodontics].

Radiographic cephalometric measurements are very important for the orthodontic diagnosis. For the computerized analysis 10 percent of time is necessary comparable with the volume of time for the analysis by hand. For the computerized analysis were used the following hardware: AC 7100, Digitizer K 6405, Printer K 6314. After input of 19 skeletal points with the digitizer the results will printed as a hardcopy. The cephalometric method was adapted by the method after Hasund. The software was written in Turbo-Pascal. The computerized cephalometric analysis is a part of our computerized orthodontic analysis programme.

A hypothetical model of genetic control of tooth-crown growth in man.

Twins and families were investigated to obtain information about inheritance of tooth-crown size. Sixty twin pairs and 100 families were examined using four methods of estimation. The results suggest genetically controlled interactions between tooth germs during their formation. A hypothetical model of odontogenesis is presented.

[Metachondromatosis. Report of a family with 4 cases].

Metachondromatosis is a hereditary dominant condition, which was differentiated from multiple hereditary cartilaginous exostoses by Maroteaux in 1971. We observed a family with 4 patients in 3 generations. The condition manifested in early childhood, showed a spontaneous regression after cessation of growth, and could be diagnosed with certainty by radiological signs. We found multiple tiny periarticular calcifications, small exostoses especially on the short tubular bones, and enchondromatous bone changes. The vertebral column takes part in the bone dysplasia. In addition, our patients show deformities of nails and teeth.

[Experimental studies on the use of direct bonding in dental orthopedics (author's transl)].

Plastic filling materials of the Noracryl 100 and Evicrol type were used on twenty extracted teeth as adhesives for direct bonding. The two plastic materials did not differ in fatigue and tear-off test results.--The values of tensile strength were many times those of therapeutically effective orthodontic forces. Using replicas and scanning electron micrographs of the enamel surface, it was possible to show that, after bracket removal and polishing, residues of Noracryl are more easily removable than those of Evicrol.--Initial clinical tests allowed these results to be verified.
