In histological examinations with serial sections an open trephination hole and a persistent slitlike space between the scleral flap and the sclera were found up to 17 months after Elliot-Fronimopoulos goniotrephination with scleral flap. This condition could be the "parathalamus" described by Fronimopoulos et al.
After covered fistulizing operations for primary glaucoma without complications the anterior chamber is deeper than it was prior to surgery. This means that the contact between the posterior surface of the iris and the lens may be very important in the pathogenesis of all primiary glaucomas, especially in acute primary glaucoma: an acute iridolenticular block can develop. Severe blocking mechanisms of the posterior surface of the iris sometimes appear after fistulizing glaucoma operations and after cataract extractions (with and without implantation of a pseudophakos) if there is no postoperative dilatation of th pupil. Peripheral iridectomies alone cannot prevent the anterior chamber from becoming shallower or flattened, possibly with the development of malignant glaucoma.
Report on complications arising with the first 301 intraocular lenses implanted in Frankfurt University Eye Clinic. The most common complications were postoperative luxations of the intraocular lenses. It was possible to remedy these in most cases. In three cases, postoperative permanent generalised corneal edema occurred.

The sever orbital haemorrhage (Cords) can follow a contusion of the orbit. Only an immediate orbital decompression by Killian's incision provides permanent loss of vision. Report of seventeen own cases.

During the years 1967--1977, there were performed about 500 mostly perforating keratoplasties. Among these there were special groups: 50 lamellar keratoplasties (43 central, 7 marginal), 5 perforating ipsilateral rotation-autokeratoplasties 2 perforating contralateral autokeratoplasties. The results encourage to use these special keratoplasties more often instead of the usual perforating keratoplasty.

After a short survey of the development of thermosurgery for glaucoma our own experiences with 120 cryocoagulation operations of the ciliary body are described. We observed postoperatively a general reduction of intraocular pressure--but pressure regulation appeared in only 1/3 of cases.
106 eyes with glaucoma and cataract have been operated simultaneously with a combined cataract-extraction (cryoextraction) and trephining with scleral flap (Elliot-Fronimopoulos). In 95 eyes intraocular pressure was compensated without local therapy (about 90%).

A report is given on the results in 98 eyes of 49 patients with simultaneous bilateral intraocular operation. The special indications and the positive and negative arguments concerning this kind of intraocular operation are discussed.
