[Ambulatory surgical treatment of inguinal hernia].

Results of ambulatory treatment of 4000 patients with inguinal hernias are presented. Principles of treatment with use of different methods and techniques are developed. Indications and contraindications for ambulatory treatment of patients with inguinal hernias are formulated. Results of treatment of 159 patients by original author's method of hernioplasty are presented. The authors consider ambulatory inguinal herniology as independent line in surgical practice. Foundation of ambulatory herniological centers are proposed.

[The outlook for the development and improvement of ambulatory polyclinic care].

Out-patients medical care development represent one of the main tasks of the military medical service reforming. The essential effort focuses on a pre-hospital stage of medical aid, i.e. forming-up of day hospitals, centers of specialist care for out-patients, new personnel policy and medics' training improvement.

[Combined treatment of panaritium].

69 patients with superficial forms of panaritium were treated with the use of applicational b-therapy in postoperative period. It is well known, that b-radiation produces an anti-inflammatory effect, promotes lysis and elimination of necrotic tissues which promotes healing. Applicational b-therapy was used straight away after the operations and later--after each dressing. In all patients favourable process of wound healing was observed. Mean treatment duration in comparison with control group of patients in which conventional method of mattery wound treatment was used (dressings with antiseptics, UHF-, UVI of the wound), showed to be 1.6-1.8 times less.

[Characteristics of pantothenic acid transport in membrane vesicles of the brush border of small intestine epithelial cells in rats].

A microfiltration method was used to study the mechanism of pantothenic acid transport in the membrane vesicles of the rat small intestine brush margin. The vitamin uptake proceeded to inner space of the vesicles and was enhanced in presence of sodium ions. The findings suggest that the vitamin transport across the membrane of the small intestine brush margin is mediated by a carrier and proceeds via a Na(+)-co-transport mechanism.

[The surgical treatment of gunshot wounds].

The authors have made an analysis of results of clinical observations of 953 patients with gunshot wounds of soft tissues. It was found that primary surgical treatment (PST) of the gunshot wounds often proved to be not radical. Later it required reoperations in 30% of the wounded. To get more exact indications for a repeated surgical treatment it is necessary to make a careful revision of the gunshot wound within 3-5 days after getting the wound. The indications for reoperations are as follows: the development of secondary necrosis of the tissues necessary removal of the foreign body, opening of the pockets and leaks in order to provide valuable drainage as well as nonradical PST due to various causes. Reoperations performed according to the indications allowed to make the duration of treatment at an average 7 days shorter and the development of suppurations two times less frequent.

[Use of antegrade endolymphatic administration of antistaphylococcal and antipseudomonal plasma in the treatment of infectious complications in severe multiple trauma].

The article deals with the treatment of infectious complications in persons with severe concurrent trauma. Microbiological study of the wound discharge and damaged tissues showed staphylococci and blue pus bacillus to be the principal causative agents of infectious complications. In view of the poor response of the immune system to the opportunistic flora, the performance of passive immunization with antistaphylococcal and antipseudomonal plasma is pathogenetically grounded. Taking into account the involvement of the lymphatic system in the infectious process, endolymphatic administration of the immune plasma is suggested.

[The electrical activity of symmetrical areas of the rat cerebral cortex during the use of a low-intensity UHF field].

Electrical asymmetry of electrograms of the rat symmetrical brain areas was decreased under the UHF irradiation of the animals. Non-modulated UHF field increased the 1.5 and 6 Hz rhythms in the left hemisphere, whereas modulated UHF field decreased the 1 Hz rhythm in the right hemisphere. The effects were only occurring at the initial period of the UHF fields use.
