[The treatment of bronchopulmonary aspergillosis with allergic manifestations].

The base of current management of bronchopulmonary aspergillosis with allergic manifestations (BPAAM) is glucocorticosteroid treatment. These hormones are introduced in a mean dose 0.5 mg/kg (by prednisolone) to correct bronchial obstruction, reduce eosinophilia and resolve (completely or partially) infiltrates in the lungs. This being achieved, the dose is lowered to warrant maintenance. Minimal doses or discontinuation of glucocorticosteroids may be used in case of adjuvant indomethacin (0.025 three times a day) or plasmapheresis administration. In remission, fungistatic means with glucocorticosteroids or without them (in the absence of bronchial obstruction) are proper. Inhalations in BPAAM are ineffective. Individual schemes of the disease treatment may vary in wide range.

[Clinical and epidemiologic aspects of ecologically induced bronchial asthma].

After prosthetics of the aortal valve 30 patients underwent bicycle ergometry training at the sanatorial stage of rehabilitation. 10 patients who did not undergo bicycle ergometry training made up the control group. The efficacy of bicycle ergometry training was assessed according to the time-course of changes in pump and contractile functions of the heart and oxygen consumption at rest and during bicycle ergometry. Transfer of the patients to a higher functional class, a decrease in the number of threshold reactions, attainment of a higher heart rate and a higher oxygen consumption, capacity for an increase of the stroke index up to the load of 1.0 W/kg and of the level of the myocardial reserve up to 1.5-2.0 W/kg were used as criteria for the effectiveness of bicycle ergometry training. The effectiveness of bicycle ergometry training is also supported by the data obtained on comparison of the findings in the main and control groups.

Asthma↗

[Diagnosis of allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis].

Five patients (4 men and 1 woman) afflicted with bronchopulmonary aspergillosis (ABPA) were examined. The main criteria for the diagnosis were a high level of the total IgE, demonstration of specific IgE to Aspergillus fumigatus, positive skin tests with antigens of moldy fungi. All the 4 patients with active process, not given corticosteroids, manifested eosinophilia of the sputum and peripheral blood. The clinical picture of bronchial asthma was recorded in 2 patients. It is desirable that all the patients with protracted and relapsing infiltrative processes in the lungs running with sputum and blood eosinophilia undergo examinations for the presence of ABPA.

[Histotopography of changes in the enzyme activity of rat brain exposed to fluorophenazine].

The influence of fluorophenazine on succinic-, citric acid-, NAD-H2-and NADP-H2-dehydrogenases in different structures of rat brain was investigated by histochemical methods. Three hours after a single subcutaneous injection of fluorophenazine (1 and 5 mg/kg) the enzymatic activity was the greatest in the limbic and the frontal regions of the cortex. The inhibitory effects of fluorophenazine in these structures were greater than those of the neuroleptics trifluoroperazine, chlorpromazine.

[Pharmacology of phthorphenazine-depot].

The psychotropic activity, the content in the organs and tissues, the acute and chronic toxicity of phthorphenazine-depot - (phthorphenazine-decanoate)-2-triphthormethyl-10-/3/1-(beta-caprionyl-oxyethyl)-piperazinyl-4/-propy/phenothiazine - were studied as contrasted against phthorphenazine dehydrochloride. Phthorphenazine-depot has been found to display a prolonged action, a single injection being sufficient to depress conditioned avoidance reflexes for a period of 45-50 days. The antagonism of the drug to phenamine is manifest for 30 days after its administration. After 17 days from the instant of its introduction phthorphenamine is capable of prolonging the anesthetic action of sodium thiopental. Upon a single administration phthorphenazine-depot continues to be in evidence in the tissues of organs and in the blood over a period of 4-5 weeks. The drug is little toxic, this having been ascertained in the course of acute and chronic experiments.

[Experimental data on the toxicity of nonachlazine, a new antianginal agent].

The results obtained by a study of acute and chronic toxicity of nonachlazine--a new original coronary-active agent endowed with antianginal properties are reported. Nonachlazine has been found to have a sufficiently wide range of therapeutic action. With its repeated (for 36 days) oral introduction to rats in an effective dose of 10 mg/kg the drug does not produce any adverse effect on the general condition of the animals, reduces but insignificantly their weight gain, fails to exert any damaging effect on the blood system, does not change biochemical characteristics featuring the function of the liver, nor evokes any pathohistological changes of the internal organs. Nonachlazine has no locally irritating effect on the gastro-intestinal tract and is a compound producing but a slight stress action.

Angina Pectoris↗

[Toxicity of etmozine, a new antiarrhythmic agent].

In tests set up on albino rats, guinea pigs and dogs chronic toxicity of aetmozine--a new antiarrhythmic drug used enterally in a dose of 35 mg/kg for periods of 1.3 and 6 months was studied. With different follow-up periods aetmozine was found not to lower the weight gain of the animals, nor to have any adverse effect on the blood and act as a local irritant. Histopathological changes occurring in the internal organs of the animals are of a reversible nature. Single oral administrations of the drug in a dose of 300 mg/kg at different terms of pregnancy did not produce any embryotoxic or teratogenous effects in rats.

Abnormalities, Drug-Induced↗

[Long-term experiments on toleration of the ganglionic blockader hygronium].

In tests set up on albino rats, guinea pigs and rabbits the chronic toxicity of hygronium--a new original ganglion blocking agent of a short-term action was studied. With its daily intraperitoneal administration for 14 days in doses of 10 and 40 mg/kg (1/10 and 1/3 DL50) the drug produces in some of the animals, chiefly in rabbits and guinea pigs receiving 40 mg/kg, readily reversible histological changes in some of their internal organs. Hygronium does not cause any local irritating effect
