[The distribution characteristics of the taiga tick (Ixodidae) in the city of Tomsk].

The study conducted in 1996-1997 has shown that in large town lads there is a steady population of the taiga tick with the maximum number 3 specimens per 1 km of account route. In these lads there are well developed wood and shrub layer, grass cover and thick ground litter layer. Tick larvae often occur on rodents from these territories. In lads and gardens, where the ground litter is ruined and herbal cover is oppressed, the taiga ticks do not occur. In outskirts the number of ticks is higher. Abundance of ticks in these areas has an inverted dependence upon recreational load degree.

[Visual potentialities of the tick Hyalomma asiaticum asiaticum (Ixodidae)].

Ethological experiments with the desert tick Hyalomma asiaticum asiaticum are conducted. It is shown that tick inhabiting open landscapes discovers his host using his eyes. Since the eyes of this species have a poor resolving possibility, black objects with white strips drawn on it are less attractive for the tick. When the tick scans an area looking for host, the principal optical axis of his eyes is directed not higher than 20 degrees. In allows the tick to discover objects having angular sizes of 5 degrees and greater.

[The peculiarities of the biology of ticks inhabiting the environs of Tomsk City].

The presence of ticks Ixodes persulcatus and I. pavlovskyi occidentalis is revealed in urban parks and the forests directly adjoined to buildings. I. pavlovskyi occidentalis is found to be the dominant species nearby the city. The both species are occurred almost simultaneously, and the peak of their abundance usually falls on 2nd or 3rd ten-day period of May. In the city the ticks species ceased occurring in registers in the end of May, and in the adjacent forests they disappeared in the end of June. I. pavlovskyi occidentalis has not been found in the forests remote from the city at the distance more than 15 kilometers. Besides the above species the ticks Dermacentor reticulatus and Haemaphysalis concinna are occurred rarely in the territory examined.

[Chondrocalcinosis in gout].

Problems of pathogenesis, diagnosis and therapy of gout and chondrocalcinosis in which deposits of uric acid salts and calcium are found in the articular tissue are of primary importance in modern rheumatology. The authors give observations of 10 out of 218 patients with primary gout in whom roentgenology had revealed signs of calcium salt deposits in the joints and periarticular tissue.

[Repeated catching of taiga ticks on their permanent routes].

To determine seasonal dynamics of abundance of Ixodes persulcatus P. Sch. by standard methods the ticks collected on flag were marked with a nonrepeated group mark and returned into the registration route. As a result it was established that during the season of ticks' activity in the biotope of shrub meadows 26%, in the biotope of overgrown and trashed glades 14.4% and in the biotope of young aspen forest 13.8% of marked ticks were repeatedly found. Of all considered factors affecting repeated occurrence of ixodid ticks on a registration route, their transfer by wild animals, which use this route in their movements, may play an important part.
