[Acute epiglottitis].

The experience in treating 5 patients with acute epiglottitis at our Clinic, from 1986-1989, has been presented. The importance of setting an on-time diagnosis and the application of Urbason therapy has been pointed out. We have indicated the specification of this disease, which is a potentially fatal epiglottidean and supraglottic inflammation. All of these cases were successfully solved by suitable antibiotic and Urbason therapy without preliminary tracheotomy or intubation.

[Obstructing lesions of the trachea following tracheotomy].

Within the last four years 8 patients with tracheal stenosis were treated at the ORL Clinic of the M.M.A. The sites of stenosis were at the site of tracheostome, anterior and lateral tracheal walls and circular stenosis of the whole tracheal lumen. Two patients had combined stenosis of trachea and tracheostome. The authors have applied combined palliative surgical interventions without radical approaches but with the employment of longer passive dilatation. Six patients were cured, the complete decannilman was performed, one patient quitted the treatment while one is still under treatment.
