[A combined osteosynthesis method for ununited fractures and pseudarthroses of the femur neck].

A combined method of osteosynthesis consisting of three consecutive steps (reposition and fixation of fragments of the neck with the help of cortical allotransplants, intertrochanteric osteotomy with medialization of the femur, osteosynthesis of the three formed fragments with the Trotsenko-Nuzhdin plate) was used in 28 patients with ununited fractures and false joints of the femoral neck. In 88% of the cases the method resulted in recoveries and returned patients to their professional work.

[Pathogenetic aspects of studying clonal properties of bone marrow stromal cells in diseases of the osteoarticular system].

Properties of clonogenic stromal fibroblasts of bone marrow which are precursors of osteo- and chondrogenesis, of patients with different diseases of osteoarticular apparatus have been studied. Peculiarities of their reaction on growth-stimulating influence of nonstromal auto- and xenogeneic cells have been demonstrated. The possibilities of data application for studying of pathogenesis of hereditary osteochondrodysplasias as well as other groups of the skeleton affections are considered.

[The outcomes in crush syndrome of the extremities half a year after the earthquake in Armenia].

Squeezed syndrome affecting various segments of limbs has been identified in 245 of 500 victims randomized for examination 6 months after the earthquake. In 119 cases associated with closed fractures of long tubular bones and in 59 cases with open ones. In 124 cases duration of squeezing was up to 12 h, and in 70 cases--1 day and more. Segmental limb amputation was performed in 113 cases. In 95 cases limbs functions were retained and in 81--lost. Perspectives of more successful outcomes depend on the maximal shortening of rescue period, on rational organization of the treatment process and prolongation of recovery management of squeezed syndrome sequelae.

[Treatment of fractures of the posterior border of the acetabulum].

The author presents the results of the treatment of 30 patients (21 males and 9 females) with fractures of the posterior border of the acetabulum. In 25 patients there were injuries of other parts of the skeleton and of the inner organs. 20 patients were urgently transported to the institute and 10 patients were admitted at remote terms after the injury. The indications for conservative and surgical treatment are given. 12 of the 20 urgent patients have been operated on. In cases of late admission arthrodesis or total replacement of the joint has been made. Successive reconstructive interventions may be achieved when the fragments of the acetabulum are precisely adapted.
