[Premature condensation of sperm chromosomes in human oocytes fertilized in vitro].

Analysis of the frequency of oocytes containing premature condensed sperm chromosomes depending on clinical and embryological parameters has been carried out. It was shown that this frequency comes to 11.6% during in vitro fertilization and depends on morpho-functional characteristics of acnipo[symbol: see text] oocytes.

[The adenosine phosphate content in human sperm and their motility].

Adenosine phosphoric acids (ATP, ADP, AMP) are of significance for the metabolic processes in living beings, including spermatozoa, as they are the principal donors of energy in all the reactions of biosynthesis. Besides, spermatozoa need the energy to perform a particular function-to move in the female genital tract to the ovum. It was stated that a decrease in the ATP levels reduced or ceased the translational motion of spermatozoa, therefore the investigations of adenosine phosphates in the spermatozoa were found to be mandatory. The authors studied the levels of ATP, ADP and AMP and the energy charge in the native human spermatozoa in the patients with oligo- and asthenospermia. Spermatozoa with morphologically and physiologically normal fertility were used as controls. The results obtained demonstrated that in oligospermic males the levels of ATP were slightly decreased whereas the levels of AMP significantly increased from 31.6 to 38 per cent. As a result there was a significant decrease in the ATP/ADP ratio. A more pronounced decrease in the ATP levels and an increase in the AMP levels were revealed in asthenospermic patients (12.6 and 40.5 per cent respectively. In the latter patients the ADP fraction decreased to 42.4 per cent versus 51.4 per cent in health and the energy charge underwent a more significant decrease: from 0.37 (normal) to 0.3. The results obtained are indicative of the possibility of using the aforementioned method for a comprehensive evaluation of the spermatozoan functional activity and the detection of asthenospermia-inducing mechanisms.

[Biogenic amines in the epiphysis and hypothalamus under normal conditions and following ovariectomy].

Melatonin content in the epiphysis, serotonin, noradrenaline, dopamine-in the hypothalamus, gonadotropins--in the hypophysis of rats was studied under normal conditions and following ovariectomy; regularly of the estral cycle phases was studied as well. Two series of experiments were conducted on 120 rats with regular estral cycles. The animals were divided into groups according to the estral cycle phase. Melatonin concentration in the epiphysis, serotonin, noradrenaline, dopamine--in the hypothalamus was subject to variations coinciding with the estral cycle phases. Serotonin, noradrenaline, and dopamine content decreased in the hypophysis of ovariectomized rats in comparison with control; melatonin content rose in the epiphysis. There was no complete extinction of the estral cycle in the course of investigation (20 days). The action of castration on the sexual cycle depended on the phase at which the rats were subjected to ovariectomy. A reverse relationship existed between the melatonin content in the epiphysis and serotonin content in the hypothalamus, this serving as one of the important factors in the regulation of the sexual function.

[Cryogenic technic in gynecological practice].

Two units with different refrigerants and cooling temperature are recommended for treating various gynecological affections by the method of cryodestruction of pathological changes in the cervical tissue and the uterine mucosa. In these liquid nitrogen, nitrous oxide and carbon dioxide are employed as refrigerants.

[The effect of temperature and concentrations of various substances on the microviscosity of erythrocyte cytosol].

EPR spin-probe method was used to investigate the dependence of erythrocyte cytosol microviscosity (ECM) on the concentration of different substances and temperature. The critical ECM value has been determined after reaching of which erythrocytes become destroyed. It is shown that this ECM value is reached at different NaCl concentrations depending on the temperature.
