[Acute insufficiency of the gastrointestinal tract in patients with severe gunshot injury].

Acute insufficiency of the gastrointestinal tract (GIT) in patients with severe gunshot injuries is an important link of pathogenesis of the polyorganic insufficiency syndrome. The character of the wound, the numerical score objective assessment of the injury severity and severity of the patient's state are considered to be criteria of early diagnosis of a risk of the development of acute insufficiency of GIT. The specific feature of "general" intensive therapy of acute insufficiency of GIT in severe gunshot traumas is the necessary application of regional anesthesia, sympatholytics, anticholinesterase agents and H2-blockers. Intensive "enteral" therapy of acute insufficiency of GIT in severe gunshot wounds includes the measures resulting in improvement of microcirculation, tissue respiration in organs of GIT, decompression of the stomach, local defense of mucosa, detoxication and early enteral balanced nutrition. The described method of treatment of wounded to the stomach used at specialized medical institutions resulted in 6.2 less lethality among this category of patients.

[A hygienic validation of prospective ways to decrease the amount of solid wastes on board ship].

The most perspective way of reduction of solid waste on board the ship is to modify the system of food supplies. The new system must provide for food which is completely ready for use or contain semi-finished products which need few cookery. The food packings must be easily utilized or recycled. The existing amount of garbage on board the ship will be sorted, pressed, treated by conservants, packed into polyethylene bags, and stocked in special compartments or vacant refrigerated store-rooms. The realization of these proposals will make it possible to reduce the quantity of garbage on board the ship, lower the expenditure of labour and electricity for cookery, reduce the potable water consumption, and diminish the size and the quantity of caboose equipment. It's possible to use electric ovens to heat the food, reduce or exclude the usage of submarine disposable containers, and thus, preserve the ecology of world ocean.

[Difficult and moderately difficult one-stage combined surgeries].

The author analyses experience in over 400 one-stage concurrent operations conducted on several organs involved in various diseases (benign and malignant). Previous experience in combined operations performed in generalized carcinomas of the abdominal organs and gradual perfection of the anesthesiological and resuscitation service in patients with marked disorders of metabolic processes (unspecific ulcerous colitis, Crohn's disease, diffuse familial polyposis, etc.) made it possible to carry out successful concurrent operations not only of moderate and severe degree of injuriousness but also particularly injurious interventions. Among the last named were 34 interventions: several severe operations were performed in one-stage for two to four diseases, e.g. on the lung, liver, and intestine or pancreaticoduodenal resection was combined with two resections of the large intestine, etc.

[Detection of immunological shifts with respect to Chlamydia in patients with urogenital pathology].

The possibility of using the complement fixation test and, mainly, the indirect hemagglutination test with the use of group-specific diagnostic reagents for the tentative serological detection of urogenital chlamydiasis has been studied. The indirect hemagglutination test has proved to be sufficiently informative. Further investigation aimed at the study of the sensitivity and specificity of this test in urogenital chlamydiasis are believed to be expedient and promising.
