[Intravenous nutrition of patients after resection of the small intestine].

The analysis of clinical, physiological and biochemical parameters in patients with the syndrome of short loop has evidenced that the state of such patients is incompatible with life preservation, which has been confirmed by a high lethality rate. The only possibility to prolong their life is the chronic adequate parenteral nutrition that should include 1.5-2 g protein/kg, daily, and 130-140 kcal/each gram of nitrogen introduced. Special attention should be paid to the correction of the mineral metabolism and providing with vitamins.
