[The treatment of patients with traumatic osteomyelitis of the mandible by using porous permeable titanium nickelide implants].

Use of titanium nickelide based porous permeable implants for repair of postosteomyelitis mandibular defects is discussed. Five patients with mandibular defects of different location and extent were operated on. Surgical methods are described. A clinical example of using a porous permeable implant is offered. The implant designed as a mandible was used for repair of an extensive mandibular defect. Good immediate and remote results of operations indicate good prospects of using such implants.

[Self-contained cryoapplicators made of porous titanium nickelide in the treatment of precancer of the lip and oral mucosa].

A set of autonomic cryoapplicators of porous titanium nickelide is designed, their physical parameters described, and cryogenic properties studied on gelatin model. Ninety-eight patients with precancer diseases of the red lips and buccal mucosa were treated using these applicators. The applicators are easy to use and meet the requirements to cryoinstruments. Cryoexposure is to be performed during the first minute after coolant charging, when the temperature of the applicators is close to the nitrogen one. The larger is the diameter of the working piece of the applicator and the larger is the device, the more ice is formed. The depth of freezing is 2 to 6 mm. The choice of an applicator, duration of cryoexposure, number of cryocontacts, and cycles of freezing and thawing depend on the form of precancer disease, size of lesions, and degree of the pathological changes. Good results were attained in 96.9 +/- 1.6% of patients.

[Initial experiences in creation of anastomoses in abdominal surgery using implants with shape "memory"].

The article analyses the first experience in 230 operations for creation of compression anastomoses in abdominal surgery of the esophagus, stomach, gallbladder, and common bile duct by means of implants with shape "memory". Complications occurred in 10% of cases, the mortality rate was 3.04%. The suggested method simplifies the operative technique, shortens the duration of the operation, and reduces the incidence of postoperative complications (anastomositis, incompetence of sutures, reflux gastritis, dumping syndrome).

[Inter-intestinal compression anastomosis in children].

Enterostomy of the afferent intestine with preliminary formation of an intestinal anastomosis with the efferent loop was carried out in 11 children. The anastomosis was created by means of a compression device of an alloy "with shape memory". Among the children who underwent operation 7 were newborns with intestinal atresia and 4 were children of an older age with peritonitis and perforation of the intestine. No operative complications were encountered. An intestinal anastomosis with a fistula-bearing intestine allows multiple complications of routine enterostomy to be avoided.
