[Hemosorption in the complex treatment of arteriosclerotic dyscirculatory encephalopathy associated with chronic ischemic heart disease].

Hemosorption was included in combined treatment of 110 patients with atherosclerotic dyscirculatory encephalopathy combined with coronary heart disease. The effect was assessed on the basis of clinical improvement, psychological tests, blood lipid assays, compressed spectral EEG analysis and ultrasonic flowmetry of the carotid arteries. The effectiveness of hemosorption was demonstrated at all stages of the disease, with the regression of general cerebral and focal neurologic symptoms preceding clinical remission of coronary heart disease. Hemosorption was shown to have good effects on blood lipids, cerebral circulation and EEG spectrograms.

Adult

[Hemosorption treatment of patients with atherosclerotic encephalopathy].

A total of 140 patients with atherosclerotic encephalopathy were subjected to a multiple modality treatment. The efficiency of the treatment with (n-90) and without (n-50) hemosorption was compared. The results of the treatment were assessed by neurologic and neuropsychological examinations, spectral analysis of the EEG and the study of blood lipids. Hemosorption was found to be highly effective in the treatment of patients with atherosclerotic encephalopathy, which was expressed in the regression of clinical manifestations, a positive time-course of the electrical activity of the brain and lipid metabolism indicators.

Aged

[Left-ventricular function before and after aneurysmectomy].

Clinical findings in central hemodynamics of patients with postinfarction aneurysm of the heart are reported. Hemodynamics and myocardial contractility were examined during surgery in 92 patients. Aneurysmectomy was shown to normalize, while still in the surgery, residual volumes of heart cavities and increase significantly myocardial performance. A method for recording hemodynamic information and results of surgical treatment, with blood pressure and flow rate presented as diagrams, is discussed.

Adult

[New diagram method of evaluating hemodynamics during operations].

A new method reflecting hemodynamic and myocardial contractility patterns during heart surgery under extracorporeal circulation was used in 11 patients, with a total of 89 measurements performed. PV-diagram enables a real-time assessment of the heart's pumping function with reference to specific phases of the cardiac cycle, and also a prompt visual dynamic assessment of the circulatory status. The method can be efficient in the evaluation of the effect of corrective heart surgery.
