[Endoscopic treatment of early gastric cancer using laser destruction and electrosurgical methods].

For the last 15 years endoscopic treatment of early gastric cancer we used in 52 patients. It involved: electroexcision, laser photocoagulation with argon and YAG-Nd lasers. The recurrences, that occurred in 6 patients were also treated with endoscopic methods. The long-term follow-up ranged from 3 months to 15 years. The combined endoscopic treatment of early gastric cancer is recommended in patients with contraindications for the conventional surgery.

[The methods for correcting with specific and nonspecific immunomodulators the immunopathological processes arising from the administration of a staphylococcal vaccine].

In mice immunized with staphylococcal vaccine the arresting of graft-versus-host reaction under the influence of small doses of staphylococcal vaccine, hyperimmune antistaphylococcal serum, cyclophosphamide, antilymphocytic serum has been demonstrated. Small doses of staphylococcal vaccine stimulated the production of antibodies to staphylococci and dermal extract in the animals, previously immunized with this vaccine, with the simultaneous suppression of cell-mediated immune reactions to both antigens. Immunosuppressing agents have been found to inhibit humoral and cell-mediated immune response to microbial antigen and dermal extract. No influence of vermox and levamisole on the outcome of the graft-versus-host reaction has been registered; the latter preparation has been found to intensify cell-mediated immune reactions to microbial and tissue antigens.

[The use of taktivin for modulating the functional activity of the neutrophilic granulocytes in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus].

The dynamics of the synthesis of active oxygen forms by neutrophilic granulocytes was studied and compared in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) given conventional therapy (n = 14) and combined therapy with the use of tactivin (n = 17). Evaluation of spontaneous fluorescence of neutrophils (FN) and of that induced by suspension of the killed Staphylococcus culture revealed an increase of the latter one after tactivin treatment, which was accompanied by the regression of articular and cutaneous syndromes and trophic disorders. It has been discovered that the dynamics of FN in the treatment with the use of tactivin was dependent on the initial characteristics of the synthesis of active oxygen forms.

[The place of laparoscopy in the diagnosis and treatment of ovarian cysts].

Laparoscopy as a diagnostic and therapeutic tool was tried in 56 patients. Laparoscopy was indicated in ovarian cysts detected by ultrasound, sterility, suspected external endometriosis. The diagnosis at laparoscopy coincided with histological pattern of the removed neoplasms in 100% in relation to malignancy. Endoscopic interventions had complications in 1.8% of cases. Recurrences were not recorded 18 months.

[Diagnostic possibilities of laparoscopy in ovarian cysts].

Laparoscopy was used for the diagnosis of ovarian cysts in 90 patients. Ovarian cysts detected by ultrasonic examination, sterility, suspected external genital endometriosis were the indications for laparoscopy. In 32 cases the cysts were found in laparoscopy. In 23 patients a diagnostic puncture of the cyst and a subsequent cytologic examination were carried out. All the patients in whom ovarian cysts were diagnosed were operated on (endoscopically or via laparoscopy). Laparoscopic diagnoses coincided with the histologic findings in examinations of the removed formations in 100% of cases.

[The morphological criteria of thromboangiitis and arteriosclerosis obliterans of the vessels of the lower extremities].

The differences in pathology of the leg and foot arteries are described in patients with thromboangiitis obliterans (60 cases) and atherosclerosis (30 cases). Based on the operative and biopsy material it has been shown that thromboangiitis obliterans is associated with immune inflammation of the arteries, manifesting itself by productive or, more rarely, by necrotic arteritis. In the latter condition, the wall of the impaired vessels contains immune complexes. In patients with atherosclerosis, the muscular type arteries of the legs and feet show dystrophic and fibroblastic lesions seen primarily in the intima and manifesting themselves by the enlargement of its connective tissue. No immune complexes were discovered in the wall of such arteries.

[Use of phthivazide in the treatment of patients with acute pneumonia and chronic bronchitis].

The treatment scheme of 540 patients with acute pneumonia and chronic bronchitis involved a 0.5 g ftivazid three times a day for 15-20 days. Compared with control groups of patients on the standard therapy, the drug presents a more advantageous treatment. Adequate efficacy and tolerance of the drug ftivazid make it appropriate for use in acute pneumonia and chronic bronchitis.

[Sanitary-protective and limitation areas for antennae of the decameter range].

A detailed overview of a transmitting antenna of the decameter range is provided. It is shown that the field near such antennas has rather a complex structure. A comparative analysis of the existing design techniques for the determination of electromagnetic field intensity has been undertaken. On the basis of numerical design techniques the procedure of automated prediction of the electromagnetic situation is proposed. The basic components of the procedure are set forth. As illustrated by some antennas the dependence of sanitary and limitation zones on the wavelength, radiated power and the type of soil has been studied.

[The role of colonoscopy in screening for tumors of the large intestine].

In 1986-1988, 6434 patients underwent colonoscopy in general hospital: 2076 were at risk for large bowel cancer whereas in 4358 the procedure was used for prophylaxis. Benign polyps or polyposis were detected in a total of 1699 (26.4%) patients: 856 (41.2%) in the risk group and 843 (19.3%) in the prophylactic one. Malignancy was diagnosed in 248 (11.9%) and 41 (0.9%) patients, respectively. It was found that small and early tumors made up 22% of the total number of cancers in the prophylactic group and 16.9% in the high risk group only. Colonoscopic screening carried out under general hospital condition is psychologically and economically justified since it allows to form a risk group and diagnose early cancer whereas timely removal of polyps assures secondary prophylaxis of large bowel cancer.

[Staphylococcal antigens cross-reacting with mammalian tissues and their role in inducing immunopathological processes].

In the reaction of cross adsorption of immune sera to white mouse skin and staphylococcus with the corresponding antigens, the presence of an antigen related to white mouse skin and kidney antigens has been established in Staphylococcus aureus strain Wood-46 (not producing protein A) by means of the complement fixation test and the passive hemagglutination test. The capacity of staphylococcal antibodies and their fluorochrome-labeled fragments to specifically stain the cells of the epidermis and the renal tubules of mammals has been demonstrated. Staphylococcus epidermidis has proved to be unrelated to mammalian tissues. The significance of the data obtained in this investigation for the practice of the transplantation of organs and tissues, for more accurate determination of the pathogenesis of staphylococcal infections and for the development of immunologically safe vaccines in discussed.
