[The correlation dependence between urinary excretion of vitamin B1, B2, C and entrance some nutrients with ration].

The results of the correlation analysis between parameters of urinary excretion of vitamins B1, B2 and ascorbic acid and the consumption of some nutrients with daily ration are presented. The expressed correlation dependence between consumption of proteins and fats and urinary excretion of riboflavin, and between consumption of proteins and carbohydrates and urinary excretion of ascorbic acid were found out. The strong correlation was found between the level of the majority trace elements in daily ration and urinary excretion of vitamins. The urinary excretion of thiamin, riboflavin and ascorbic acid depends on their quantity consumed with the daily ration.

[Clinical and immunological characteristics of primary and secondary antiphospholipid syndrome].

A prospective study was made of 93 patients with antiphospholipid syndrome (APS), including 34 patients with primary APS (PAPS) and 59 with secondary APS (SAPS) associated with exanthematous lupus erythematosus (ELE). According to the clinical outcomes, PAPS is heterogeneous since the clinical and laboratory signs of ELE or lupus-like syndrome occurred in two thirds of the patients with PAPS. The clinical manifestations of PAPS and ELE-associated SAPS differed at the height of disease: the signs of vascular diseases were prevalent in patients with PAPS and ELE-associated systemic manifestations were predominant in those with SAPS. In the patients with APS who further developed ELE, unlike those with PAPS showed a high incidence of transient erythema and arthralgias. The levels of serological markers in patients with APS at its height did not differ. As compared with healthy individuals, patients with APS were found to have the similar changes in the nonspecific immunological parameters manifested by absolute lymphopenia, by the diminished Fc-phagocytosis of monocytes and neutrophils, by the elevated levels of circulating immune complexes, and by the high biocidal activity of neutrophils. There were no significant differences in the immunity of patients with PAPS and in those with SAPS.

[Results of Befnorin clinical trails in healthy volunteers].

Clinical trails of Befnorin based on the human recombinant TNF-beta elaborated at the Research Design and Technology Institute of Biologically Active Substances, "Vector" State Research Center of Virology and Biotechnology, were carried out on healthy volunteers in compliance with a decision passed by the Committee of Medical and Immunobiological Preparations, Russia's Health Ministry. Single Befnorin doses of 5-10(4) U, 10(5) U, 5-10(5) U, and 10(6) U were administered as intramuscular injections. Clinical, biochemical and immunological parameters were registered for 7 days after a single dose. The drug had an impact on the below immunity indices: Fc-phagocytosis of monocytes, migration index and migration inhibition index. The dose of 10(5) U was proven to be most effective and safe. Supposedly, the drug can be effective in the treatment of herpetic diseases.

Asymmetry of delayed type hypersensitivity reaction in mice.

The intensity of delayed type hypersensitivity reactions in the left and right paws was studied in mice divided into left- and right-pawed by the motor asymmetry of the brain. The reaction was more pronounced in the left paw in all animals irrespective of motor asymmetry. Motor asymmetry of the brain hemispheres little contributed to the manifestation of differences in the delayed type hypersensitivity reactions in the left and right paws. The authors concluded that asymmetry of cellular immunity is determined by functional asymmetry of cells in regional lymph nodes.

[Adenocarcinoma of the stomach: clinical and immunologic features].

Lower natural killer cells activity (NKCA), varying stage of anemia and in vitro depressed colony-forming ability of committed precursors of hemopoiesis were identified in 50 gastric cancer patients. The patients with different patterns of the vegetative nervous system had tumors with a range of adenocarcinoma cell differentiation. A relationship was established between anemia stage, colony-forming ability of committed precursors of hemopoiesis, on the one hand, and vegetative nervous system pattern, stage of tumor cell differentiation and, to a less extent, NKCA, on the other.

[Immunotherapy of lung tumors in Balb/c mice].

Tissue-specific immune reactions were used to develop a method of dealing with malignant tumors. Injection of proteins isolated from lung tissue of mice (CBAxC57BL/6)F1, of varying age, into mice Balb/c with urethane-induced lung tumors cut the number of such tumors by half. Direct correlation was found between the magnitude and nature of effect and level of lung protein injection.

Cytokine gene expression in cerebral hemispheres and behavioral reactions of (CBAxC57Bl)F1 mice.

Interleukin-1beta mRNA, interleukin-1beta receptor mRNA, and erythropoietin receptor mRNA are expressed in the brain of (CBAxC57Bl)F1 mice. Immunization with sheep erythrocytes stimulated the expression of these cytokines in the cerebral hemispheres. Injection of recombinant erythropoietin reduced expression of interleukin-1beta, interleukin-1beta receptor, and erythropoietin receptor genes in the brain of experimental animals and considerably increased their motor activity in the open field test.

Modulation of orientation and exploratory behavior in mice during development of humoral immune response.

We demonstrated opposite changes in the orientation and exploratory behavior of (CBAxC57Bl/6)F(1) mice in the open field test during the formation of primary humoral immune response. These changes depended on initial behavioral activity: the exploratory behavior was suppressed in animals with initially high activity, stimulated in animals with medium reaction, and remained unchanged in mice with initially low activity. The detected changes in the exploratory behavior during the formation of immune response were leveled in the total population (not divided by initial behavioral status).

Circadian variations of melatonin concentration in saliva and blood content of immunocompetent cells in healthy individuals.

Salivary content of melatonin and parameters of the immune status were studied in young healthy individuals. Morning and evening levels of melatonin showed different correlations with some immunity parameters. It was assumed that the degree and type of correlation between the immune system and melatonin depend on the phase of circadian cycle, which should be considered during evaluation of immunoendocrine status.

[Use of ceramic endoprostheses in reconstructive surgery of the lower jaw in children].

The work analyses the possibility to use individually prepared ceramic endoprostheses in 6 children with a congenital or acquired pathology of the mandible. The operative methods with the application of ceramic endoprostheses are described which are characterized by less traumatic action and higher accuracy of correcting the defect or deformity of the mandible as compared with using biological plastic materials. This method of treatment can be recommended at the intermediate stages of the restorative reconstruction treatment of the mandible pathology in children.

Contribution of interleukin-1 to Th1- and Th2-dependent variants of chronic graft-versus-host reaction.

Semiallogenic transfer of lymphoid cells from parental DBA/2 strain to (C57Bl/6xDBA/2)F1 hybrids induces two variants of chronic graft-versus-host reaction with predominant activation of donor Th1 or Th2 cells [2] in genetically homologous recipients: first, severe inhibition of the humoral immune response, or second, autoimmune disease (lupus nephritis) against the background of suppressed cell and humoral immunity. These variants of chronic graft-versus-host reaction are characterized by different changes in interleukin-1 level.

Modulation of exploratory behavior in mice during activation of cell immune response.

We revealed a modulating effect of cell immune response on exploratory activity of (CBA degrees C57Bl/6)F1 mice depending on their initial behavioral profile. The formation of BCG-induced delayed-type hypersensitivity was accompanied by stimulation of the exploratory behavior in animals with initially low or intermediate activity, but did not change this parameter in behaviorally active mice.
