[The rehabilitative treatment of children with bone sarcomas].

The paper deals with the experience gained in carrying out rehabilitative surgery in 33 infant patients (37 operations) with bone sarcoma within 12 months to 12 years after combined treatment of primary tumor. Twenty-two operations using procedures of compression-distraction osteosynthesis were performed in 18 patients for post-surgery development of bone deformities and shorter limbs. shortening. Advantages of compression-distraction procedures are discussed since their application allows to make incisions and remove bone in areas outside the zone of radiation injury and permanent monitoring of exposed soft tissue condition. Twenty-two infants survived 5 years after orthopedic treatment. Four children died from metastases into the lungs 1-4 years after orthopedic rehabilitation.

[Therapeutic use of carminomycin in Ewing's sarcoma in children].

The therapeutic effect of carminomycin in various combinations with other antitumor drugs, i. e. vincristin, cyclophosphan, dactinomycin and metatrexate was studied in clinics on 18 children with wide-spread Juing sarcoma. Satisfactory direct effect was observed with the use of the above combinations in 47.0 per cent of the patients, which was evident from a decrease in the secondary tumor, disappearance of the pains and improvement of the general state of the patients.

[Use of carminomycin on children and adolescents with osteogenic sarcoma].

The therapeutic effect of carminomycin was studied in clinic at different treatment schemes with respect to 14 children and juvenile patients with osteogenic sarcoma. Pronounced local effect evident from disappearance of the pain and in some cases decrease of the metastatic tumor were noted in the patients with metastases of the osteogenic sarcoma to the bones or relapses of the primary tumor. Subjective improvement and objective effect were observed respectively in 90 and 53 per cent of the patients with metastases into the lungs and pronounced lung symptomatology.

[Multipotent primary bone sarcoma].

The results of clinical and roentgen-morphological studies on 17 cases of multipotent primary sarcoma of the bone are presented. The difficulties of the tumor recognition are due to the fact that it occurs rarely, has no specific clinical-roentgenological picture and shows marked tissue polymorphism. Most frequent are differentiations of the type of osteogenic sarcoma, chondrosarcoma, reticulosarcoma with simultaneous combination with areas having the structure of Ewing's tumor, or extensive fields of undifferentiated primitive tumor cells. Further studies are necessary to decide whether or not this tumor is an independent form among other known skeletal neoplasias.

[Bone tumor macroelements].

Neutron-activation method was employed to determine the concentration of magnium, sodium, chlorine, phosphorus and calcium in different bone tumors. In relation to normal skeletal tissue in tumor tissues higher concentrations of chlorine and sodium but lower concentrations of calcium and phosphorus were found. The greatest changes in the macromolecular content were noted in sarcoma tissues. Bone tumors differ reliably one from the other by concentrations or ratios of macroelements concentrations, this fact may be used for the differential diagnosis.

[Clinical aspects and treatment of chondrosarcoma in children and adolescents].

The clinical cours and treatment of chondrosarcoma in 9 children, aged from 8 to 16 years, are analysed. Only provisional and not persistant effect was gained after roentgenotherapy. Resection of the bone with tumor removal also failed to provide radical intervention in all patients, but one, and recurrences were noted 3-12 months following the resection. However, chondrosarcoma in children is continuously observed to be a local process and is characterized by late metastasization, due to that its prognosis is more favourable than in other malignant bone tumors.
