[Statistic evaluation of anamnestic and clinical findings in a premature labor collective of 245 cases].

245 cases of premature birth were compared from the point of view of frequency of aetiologically significant factors with 200 cases of normal birth. The perinatal progress of these premature and normal births was also followed up. It was possible to obtain statistical confirmation of the connection between prematurity and frequent occurrence of some of these parameters. Prominent amongst these are previous abortions and premature births, cervical insufficiency and malformation of the uterus, multiple pregnancies and anomalous foetal position, also placental insufficiency. Increased mortality and morbidity--including perinatal complications--were recorded at the same time. Knowledge of predisposing factors will in many cases make it possible to recognize in good time when pregnancies may be at risk and give adequate supervision and treatment where appropriate.

Abortion, Habitual↗

[Psychological problems in heterologous insemination].

Heterologous insemination is being established in increasing numbers in Anglo-Saxon, middle and north European countries, although some medical, legal and theological-ethical aspects are still not settled. Our experiences with this type of sterilisation in regard to marriage stability and psycho-physical development of the children are positive. During the months of insemination, even with psychically balanced couples, conflicts arise such as disturbed vita sexualis (sexual life) emotional stress situations or aggravation from the husband's inferiority complex which can endanger the success of the treatment or even the marriage. The doctor in charge of insemination has the responsibility to discuss and analyse arising problems with the couple so that both husband and wife are emotionally and intellectually prepared when pregnancy occurs.

Affective Symptoms↗

[Pregnancy and labor in chronic anterior horn lesion].

This is the case of a 35-year old woman who suffers from a chronic form of spinal muscular atrophy and who has successfully completed four pregnancies between 1982 and 1987. After a short discussion of etiology, pathology, heredity and the differential diagnosis we describe the obstetric problems of our patient. The pregnancies were mainly aggravated by recurrent cystitis. In all the four deliveries the patient had to undergo cesarean section followed by severe lung problems. After the third pregnancy the patient had a nephrectomy cause of a pyonephrosis. We could not see an aggravation of the disease at it is described in some cases of Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease or polyneuritis. Three of the four children showed a striking muscular hypotonia post partum that disappeared soon after the neonatal period.

[Prenatal diagnosis of osteogenesis imperfecta, type II, following AID].

Osteogenesis imperfecta is a severe disorder of skeletal formation with nonuniform mode of inheritance. Insufficient bone formation in severe cases (Type II and III) leads to spontaneous intrauterine fractures with shortening of the extremities and thoracic deformities. Sonographical, radiological, pathological-anatomical and clinical data are presented and discussed in a case which was diagnosed at the 19. week of pregnancy.
