A conclusion has been made on the basis of a number of genetic biochemical markers and dermatoglyphic peculiarities of the hands of patients with chronic alcoholism and patients with mental retardation (MR) of exogenic-organic nature that hereditary predisposition exists not only in relation to endogenic functional and organic psychoses but also in cases of exogenous mental abnormalities. It has been suggested that the hereditary predisposing factor is determined by genotype characteristics, and flexible constellations of additive isoalleles varying in individual diseases and their different clinical forms. It is suggested that the division of psychoses into endo- and exogenous ones is not absolute from the genetic viewpoint.
Distribution of HLA antigens of A and B loci was studied in 200 schizophrenics, 77 patients with manic-depressive psychosis of different forms, and in 350 healthy individuals. The findings included a significant elevation in the levels of the B7 antigen in both groups of patients, of antigen B12 in individuals with paroxysmal schizophrenia as well as a decrease in the concentrations of antigen B35 in recurrent schizophrenia. Patients with monopolar manic-depressive psychosis showed increased content of antigen B14 and decreased levels of antigen B5. The data obtained confirm heterogeneity of endogenic psychoses with regard to this sign.
Possible interrelation between anorexia nervosa and affective pathology is discussed. The authors present an analysis of clinical observations where the anorexia nervosa syndrome was developing in the presence of endogenous circulatory depression. It is noted that in some cases of latent depression, this syndrome may present the most prominent feature in the clinical picture of the disease, which makes its diagnosis and treatment rather difficult. Differential diagnostic signs permitting the differentiation between "depressive" anorexia nervosa and its other nosologic variants are discussed.
Dermatoglyphics was studied in 90 males suffering from chronic alcoholism to show a significant variability in the complex of dermatoglyphic indices, depending upon the clinical signs of the disease (differences in the degree of the disease progression, the presence of alcoholic psychoses, hereditary aggravation by alcoholism). All the male alcoholics showed a drop in the ridge density on the terminal phalanx of the fingers, compared to that of the control group. This phenomenon is of certain interest from the standpoint of diagnostic and prognostic significance and should be studied more thoroughly to have a deeper insight into its nature.

Hereditary polymorphism of transferrin is studied by means of starch gel electrophoresis in a group of healthy inhabitants of Minsk (250 persons) and in a group of schizophrenic patients (128 persons). It is concluded that the inhabitants of Minsk do not differ considerably from the population, living in the European territory by distributing the frequency of transferrin alleles. No considerable differences are found between the group of healthy people and schizophrenic patients.
Hereditary polymorphism of haptoglobin is studied by means of starch gel electrophoresis in schizophrenic patients (200 persons) and in healthy people (154 persons), in habitants of Minsk. It is concluded that Minsk inhabitants do not differ considerably from the rest European population in their frequencies of haptoglobin alleles. No reliable differences in the distribution of haptoglobin genotypes were found between patients and healthy persons. However, hereditary types of haptoglobins turned to be markers of the course and the prognosis of schizophrenia.
