A proliferation of managed care organizations in the St. Louis area, each initiating its own operating policies and procedures, presented a serious management and operations problem for the St. Louis University School of Medicine. Author Cynthia Bodewes, et. al., describes the steps taken by her organization to successfully deal with this dilema.
