Three pathologically proven cases of malignant peritoneal mesothelioma (MPM) are shown with markedly different computed tomographic (CT) appearances. The first presented as a large enhancing pancreatic mass, a second with diffuse solid large intraperitoneal masses enveloping bowel and mesentery, and a third with predominance of ascites and small peritoneal nodules. In only one patient was there a history of possible asbestos exposure. The CT findings, pathology, and differential diagnosis of MPM are discussed.

A total of 85 eyes (75 patients) with pseudogliomas (i.e., certain conditions which simulate retinoblastoma, were examined histopathologically to determine the incidence of rubeosis iridis. Neovascularization of the anterior surface of the iris was found in 70 eyes (82%). The principal associated changes in these eyes were moderate to severe inflammation of the uveal tract and retinal detachment. These findings are interpreted as indicating that inflammation, retinal detachment, and/or ischemia are effective stimulants in producing iris neovascularization, and rubeosis is not a significant factor in differentiating eyes with retinoblastoma from those eyes with pseudogliomas.
The radiographic appearance of intestinal edema, including colonic edema, has been well described in the literature. Severe wall circumferential thickening can occur within the colon in a number of conditions. This includes edema secondary to colitis, allergy, ischemia, and infiltrative neoplastic processes. Edema may be secondary to low protein levels, as from protein losing enteropathy, nephrotic syndrome, and hepatic cirrhosis. The following case, in which there was severe ascending colonic wall thickening due to edema, is unusual in two respects: it had well-developed demonstrated "protective" right colonic varices and a normal protein level.
Two cases are presented in which anomalies of the inferior vena cava were associated with horseshoe kidneys. Radiological demonstration of such combined variation is rare, only one case of duplicated inferior vena cava with horseshoe kidney having been found in the literature. The embryological basis for these anomalies is reviewed. A possible explanation for their coexisting occurrence is also speculatively raised.

Six eyes developed angle-closure glaucoma secondary to total hemorrhagic retinal detachment that occurred as a rare complication of senile disciform macular degeneration. The patients were all elderly with known senile macular choroidal degeneration. They had no history of eye surgery and experienced sudden loss of vision followed by pain. Balloons of retinal detachment were pushed tightly against the lens in a characteristic "Y suture" appearance causing shallowing of the anterior chamber and glaucoma. Pathologic examination of three eyes revealed that the choroid was not detached but that a massive subretinal hemorrhage was present. Neovascular tissue in macular disciform lesions was found in every case and was the probable source of hemorrhage. Sheets of avulsed retinal outer segments were seen incarcerated in subretinal blood in two cases, and drainage of this subretinal blood in three cases did not restore useful vision.
