[Objective criteria of the efficacy of physio- and balneotherapy in patients with ischemic heart disease].

Image identification techniques were employed to develop the model of expert team evaluation of physio- and balneotherapy efficacy on objective and formal basis. With coronary patients as the model group, is was demonstrated that the model operates with high performance. According to its assessment some physio- and balneotherapeutic complexes proved effective in 50-57.8% of cases.

[A comparison of various methods of x-ray sensitometry].

Three methods of roentgen sensimetry have been compared: the wedge method based on using the stepped wedge, the Moscow Radiation and Roentgenology Research Institute method consisting in the time-modulation of the exposure by means of a lead diaphragm and revolving cassette with screens and film, and the method, according to which the dose is modulated by changing the distance from the source of irradiation to the cassette. The exposure conditions have been selected in order to achieve the best coordination of the results obtained by all the three methods. The minimal sensitivity of the combination of the medium amplification screens of ZY-B2A type with film PM-1 is about 1000P-1. For a more complete characteristic of the important properties of the roentgenographic films it is necessary in addition to determining the sensitivity, gamma and medium gradient to measure the parameters determining the graininess of the film and the transmission of the screen light by its emulsion layer.

[Control of the radiation quality in diagnostic x-ray equipment].

A dependence of effective X-ray energy upon a high voltage amplitude for filters with various thickness is plotted using experimental attenuation curves. An analytical expression for the dependence is also derived. It relates radiation quality with an anode voltage amplitude for the units PYM-20.

[Improving the quality of roentgenograms on the RUM-20 apparatus].

In the apparatus of the PYM-20, output 1973--1976 the factual errors in the anode voltage reach 30%, which impedes standardization of the roentgenography conditions. In order to take account of the factual error a reduced setting of voltage by one-two positions is recommended.

Radiographic Image Enhancement↗

[Effect of voltage errors of an x-ray diagnostic apparatus on the quality of the x-ray image].

The technical suitability of key assemblies in the roentgen unit and the quality of X-ray examinations depend upon a proper choice of permissible voltage setting errors in the X-ray tube. To determine the permissible voltage setting errors in the roentgen apparatus a criterion for the required accuracy of such settings has been suggested and the voltage error in Soviet-made units operating in medical establishments assessed experimentally.

[The results of monitoring enterovirus circulation circulation among the population and in the environment of Tula Province over 10 years (1985-1994)].

The study of the isolation rate of polioviruses and other enteroviruses in patients with different diagnosed diseases, among healthy child population, as well as the circulation of these viruses in the environment was carried out on the territory of Tula Province for the period of 1985-1994. The epidemiological analysis of the data obtained in this study are presented. The study revealed that the vaccinal prophylaxis of poliomyelitis, carried out for the period of many years, did not lead to the elimination of poliovirus strains, differing in their genetic properties from vaccine strains, on the territory of Tula Province. A decrease in the immune stratum with respect to polioviruses of types I, II and III, observed in 1985-1994, was accompanied by the circulation of polioviruses of these three types among the population.
