[Morphologic changes due to hyperthermia (experimental study)].

Acute and chronic overheating appeared to induce similar shock reaction in all organs, with systemic disorders of microcirculation. The organs demonstrated irreversible hemodynamic disturbances with secondary hypoxic injury. Structural disorders in organs result in their functional deficiency and subsequent pathologic conditions.

[Temporary work incapacity in the workers of the heat-treatment shops of the metallurgical industry due to diseases of the digestive system].

Transitory disablement in 5886 workers engaged for the whole year into heat treating metallurgy was compared during 5 years (1981-1985) with that in 291 workers engaged into repairing mechanical occupations so as to reveal metallurgical occupational factors influencing on gastrointestinal morbidity. Metallurgical occupational hazards harm the health status in workers engaged into heat-treating metallurgy, induce the gastrointestinal disorders, which are demonstrated by the elevated transitory disablement. The workers engaged into heat treating metallurgy showed higher gastrointestinal morbidity rate than those engaged into repairing mechanical work.

[The prevention of gastroduodenal diseases in metallurgists].

Prophylactic treatment was carried out in 32 metallurgists suffering of gastroduodenal diseases. The treatment included Eleutherococcus, alpha-tocopherol acetate, methyuracil, milfoil, nettle leaves, wort and camomile leaves, oxygen foam cocktails. Clinical, biochemical, immunological, endoscopic and morphological examinations revealed efficiency of the prophylactic treatment.

[Characteristics of the course of gastroduodenal diseases in metallurgy workers].

Questionnaires were distributed among 1500 heat treatment metallurgic workers and 612 workers engaged in normal temperature working conditions. The former group had a markedly higher level of gastroduodenal damages. The risk-factors, apart from the behavioral ones, included working in shifts, irregular nutrition. The major diseases were gastroduodenitis with ulcerous clinical manifestations, and high-degree acid formation and consequent pathologic developments in the antral section of the stomach and the duodenal bulb.

[The prognosis of peptic ulcer in workers in a mining and smelting complex].

The finger and palmar patterns were studied in miners suffering from peptic ulcer and in healthy subjects. The revealed complex of 26 dermatoglyphic indicators permit the prognostication of peptic ulcer, which fact promotes efficiency of measures designed to prevent the disorder.

[Some aspects of morphological manifestations of chronic gastritis in miners].

Morphology was studied together with the condition of the local cell-bound immunity in 24 patients who were not exposed to occupational hazards in their occupations and in 32 miners with a long length of service. The above subjects underwent esophagogastroduodenoscopy involving taking of gastrobiopsy specimens. In miners there prevailed chronic atrophic gastritis. Immune mechanisms are involved in its pathogenesis, which fact is evidenced by the lymphoid-and-plasmocellular infiltration of the mucous membrane with a plentiful concentration of plasmatic cells and formation of lymphoid folliculi. They run their course against the background of an apparent lowering of local cellular defence, which event determines progression of chronic atrophic gastritis.

[Properties of amylase immobilized on aerosil derivatives].

The properties of three preparations of alpha-amylase immobilized on aminoaerosil by 2,4-toluylenediisocyanate and N,N'-dicyclohexylcarbodiimide as well as on carboxyaerosil by N,N'-dicyclohexylcarbodiimide were compared with the properties of soluble enzyme. Under immobilization the pH-effect and pH-stability zones of amylase are 0.5--1.0 pH units shifted towards the alkaline region. The preparations in which the enzyme is bound with the matrix through the amine groups on carboxyaerosil by N,N'-dicyclohexylcarbodiimide and on aminoaerosil by 2,4 toluylenediisocyanate are the most stable at 50 degrees C and to the EDTA effect. The preparation obtained by means of 2,4-toluylenediisocyanate contains a greater amount of the bound protein, is more active and stable.

[The characteristics of the manifestation of duodenal peptic ulcer in metallurgists].

The course of duodenal ulcer in metallurgists is characterized by some peculiar features, such as local antral gastritis with the gastric mucosa atrophy, signs of severe dysplasia, duodenogastric reflux in a major proportion of the patient population. The above patients are to be medically supervised by regular contact surveys, with the preventive procedures being inaugurated on an as-needed basis to keep the patient recurrence-free.
