[Developing and testing of decompression regimes for caisson operations while constructing Moscow metro].

Decompression regimes for caisson operations at the pressures up to 5 ata exceeding duration of the regimes specified in the caisson regulations have been developed. The regimes were tested and validated in dry altitude chamber with participation of exercising human subjects. Seventeen test-subjects took part in 54 tests. No symptoms of decompression sickness were documented. Air embolism was observed in 28 +/- 6% of cases at rest and in 72 +/- 6% of cases following provocative leg movements. The air embolism expression tended to increase with exposure to pressure.

[Changes in brain temperature in dogs while running].

Brain temperatures in different sites, rectal, aortal temperatures, and ventilation rate were measured in 3 dogs during treadmill running at 90 m/min, ambient temperature being 19-24 degrees C. External sites of the brain had a higher temperature than internal ones. Approximately the same temperature gradient was observed both during the exercise and at resting. Rectal temperature raised to a higher value than brain and aortal temperatures. Exercise had no effect on temperature threshold for panting.

[Development of decompression regimens for excursion dives after a prolonged exposure to 21 ata].

Decompression regimens for excursion dives from a depth of 20, 50, 100 or 200 m were developed and tested in a dry altitude chamber. Each dive continued for about 2 weeks, during which test subjects performed 10 excursion dives to a lower depth. No cases of decompression sickness were observed during 246 man/excursions whereas two cases of decompression sickness occurred in a field study.
