[Errors in measurement of section areas and perimeters of microvessels from their profiles in sections for light and electron microscopy].

The error of measuring the section areas and perimeters of microvessels was estimated, which is due to a deviation of the section plane from the direction perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of microvessels. The estimates of the microvessel nonperpendicular sectioning error correspond to the case of three-dimensional isotropic distribution of microvessels without their own eccentricity. Only those microvessel profiles are selected for morphometry that meet the condition theta min < or = b/c < or = 1.00, where b is the minor and c is the major radii of microvessel profile on a section, and theta min is the tolerance for profile nonperpendicularity.

[Gelatinase activity of protein fractions obtained by electrophoresis in polyacrylamide gel].

The modification of a method of determination gelatinolytic activity in protein fractions obtained by one and two-dimensional polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis is presented. The presence of a fraction 115-125 kD among human proteins of cortex matter and glomerulus of kidney and also in myocardium having gelatinolytic activity is demonstrated.

[Endoscopic nephropexy].

In line with new prospects, introduction of laparoscopic technique in nephropexy gave rise to some problems. One of them--postoperative rotation of the kidney (RK). Upper-pole endovideosurgical nephropexy (EVSN) with prolen net performed in the diagnostic center "Zdoroviye" in 90 patients has demonstrated that late after surgery 9 (10%) patients had pains provoked by RK and abnormal renal circulation confirmed by Dopplerography. In 1998 specialists of the diagnostic center "Zdoroviye" developed a novel method of EVSN providing elimination of the ptosis and RK. A total of 88 patients have been operated since. 67 patients with nephroptosis and RK have undergone nephropexy with a splitted flap of the prolen net, 21 patients without RK--standard nephropexy. Long-term postoperative follow-up showed that only 3 of 88 patients failed to retain normal velocity of the major renal blood flow, though they improved this velocity noticeably. Thus, a differentiated approach to EVSN based on dopplerographic examination of the major renal blood flow brings about improved treatment results in nephroptosis.

[Extracorporeal shock-wave therapy in Peyronie's disease].

The aim of the study was to validate clinical methodology on application of shock-wave impact on plaques in Peyronie's disease (PD). We studied short- and long-term results of extracorporeal shock-wave therapy (ESWT) in 54 patients 3, 6 and 12 months after the exposure. We performed ESWT sessions on different lithotriptors using different mechanisms of shock wave mechanism (hydromechanical and piezoelectric). Choice of the ESWT technique was based on the thickness and density of the plaque. The proposed ESWT method provides an effective treatment of the disease basing on the initial angle of penis deformation in erection.

[New high-strength corrosion-resistant steel for medical instruments].

New high-strength corrosion-resistant steel based on ageing martensite, metastable and stable austenite intended for the production of medical instruments for different purposes are considered. There are data on changing mechanical properties of corrosion-resistant steel and their dependence on thermoplastic treatment condition.

[The dynamic postnatal morphogenesis of the hemato-C-cellular interrelations in the rat thyroid gland].

The system of hemato-C-cellular interactions in the thyroid gland of rats at the age of 2, 4, 12, 26, and 52 weeks is characterized by similar submicroscopical organization: the typology of hemato-C-cellular complex is preserved during ontogenesis and predominant coupling of the vascular pole of C-cell to the highly effective peripheral zone of the endotheliocytes with reference to the transport is provided. Ultrastructural changes in the zones of the perifollicular hemocapillaries facing the vascular fields of C-cells reflect the dynamics of functioning of the hemato-C-cellular system at different stages of postnatal morphogenesis.

[A method for determining the formal boundary of the hematocellular interaction zone].

A method of standard marking of the boundaries of hematocellular interaction zone is proposed. It is intended for identification of most effective transport zone of hematocellular conjugation. The main point of the method is to find minimal zone of the investigated hematocellular interface, the expansion of which will be accompanied by an increment of the perimicrovascular interstitium mean thickness. To verify the method applicability, a stereometric study is carried out on hematocellular barrier formed by thyroid C-cells and perifollicular hemocapillaries. The proposed method has a negligible error and provides accurate ultrastructurometry of blood-cell barriers.

[A DNA analysis of Vibrio cholerae strains by the polymerase chain reaction].

The method for the analysis of cholera toxin gene in V. cholerae strains was developed on the basis of polymerase chain reaction (PCR). This specific and highly sensitive method using primers affecting the site of the DNA of the operon of cholera toxin gene made it possible to identify one copy of V. cholerae genome. For the first time the content of cholera toxin gene in 4 V. cholerae (eltor) strains, obtained from the clinical material of cholera patients in Tajikistan and Dagestan, was shown with the use of PCR.
