The purpose of this article is to contribute to the human becoming school of thought in nursing by defining the teaching-learning process. From a human becoming perspective, teaching-learning is a process of engaging with others in coming to know. The teaching-learning process as a lived experience of engaging with others in coming to know involves the multidimensional processes of expanding imaginal margins, naming the new, going with content-process shifts, abiding with paradox, giving meaning, inviting dialogue, noticing the now, and growing story.

Considering tomorrow: Parse's theory-guided research.

The purpose of this nursing study, guided by Parse's human becoming theory and research methodology, was to investigate the meaning of considering tomorrow for women who are homeless. This is the first study to explore the newly conceptualized health phenomenon of considering tomorrow; thus, this research provides new knowledge for nursing and expands Parse's theory in relation to considering tomorrow, health, and quality of life. Through dialogical engagements with 10 women who were homeless and the process of extraction-synthesis, the researcher generated the structure of considering tomorrow as contemplating desired endeavors in longing for the cherished, while intimate alliances with isolating distance emerge, as resilient endurance surfaces amid disturbing unsureness. Conceptual integration led to a theoretical structure in which considering tomorrow is imaging the valuing in the connecting-separating of originating.

Advanced practice nursing in community: nursing's opportunity.

This article explicates the concept of community as the relational processes that constitute a coming togetherness and explores the role of advanced practice nursing in community. Community as process and health as process are described from the theoretical perspectives of Parse's nursing theory of human becoming and Newman's theory of health as expanding consciousness. Advanced practice nurses, in engaging with community, participate in a nurse-person-community-health process. This engagement occurs in the reality of managed health care. The focus of advanced practice nursing in community is health, wholeness, and quality of life. To participate with presence in the nurse-person-community-health process is viewed as nursing's opportunity.
