[Chancriform pyoderma].

A patient with chancriform pyoderma is described. He has been repeatedly examined with the use of routine serologic tests, Treponema pallidum immobilization and immunofluorescence tests and other laboratory analyses; this has permitted a correct clinical diagnosis. A 6-month follow-up, including clinical examinations and laboratory analyses, has confirmed the diagnosis.

Adult

[Granular neurons of the cochlear complex in rats].

In the cochlear complex of white male rats the dorsal nucleus, the anterior ventral nucleus, the posterior ventral nucleus and the granular layer were studied histologically and morphometrically. While counting the number of different cells in all the above mentioned formations, by means of ocular grid (S.B. Stefanov, 1974) it was revealed that the granular neurons of the cochlear nuclei of the rats form 72--86 per cent of all the cells. The granular cells represent an independent type of neurons and these differ clearly from other neurons by the diameter of their nuclei and by the size of the pericarion. The granular cells form two cell types according to patterns of their nuclei, and these cell types are independent of each other within the limits of every cochlear complex. Percentage of different types of neurons in different parts of cochlear nuclei depends on the cell density. The distribution of the granular neurons is independent on that of large and middle size neurons.

Animals

[A cytophotometric and karyometric study of the granular cells of the rat brain. I. Granular cells of the cochlear complex and cerebellum].

Two cell types can be distinguished in granular cells of the chochlear complex of the rat by the form of their processes and the structure of the nuclear chromatin. It is shown cytophotometrically that the majority of the granular cells of the cochlear complex and in the cerebellar cortex are diploid. However, some cells contain DNA amount close to tetraploid. Some correlation between the size of the nucleus and its DNA amount was discovered both in the cerebellar cortex and in the cochlear complex.

Animals

[Disruption of food-getting movements after removal of the motor or premotor zone of the cerebral cortex in cats].

Instrumental food-procuring movements were studied in cats before and after unilateral or bilateral ablation of the motor or premotor cortical area. It is shown that unilateral impairment of the motor area affects the strength and accuracy of movements of the contralateral fore-leg, whereas the ablation of the premotor area leads to a slowing down of movements and breaking of a goal-directed movement into separate components. Bilataral ablation of the motor area irreversibly abolished the instrumental reflex. The ablation of the premotor cortex destroyed the animal's reaction to the sound signal, but food-procuring movements of the fore-legs were disturbed only temporarily. The obtained data are discussed on the basis of the concept that in cats the above cortical areas play different roles in the organization of goal directed behaviour.
