[Activity of the genome of cardiomyocytes as an indicator of the development of adaptive changes in the myocardium following exposure of the central nervous system to electromagnetic fields].

Methods of cardiomyocyte nuclei isolation from the myocard homogeneous mixture, and of cardiomyocyte genome activity estimation were elaborated. In the experiments with hyperlipoproteidemic rats, cardiomyocyte genome activity was shown to reflect the primary adaptive changes in the myocard, and to serve a reliable index of their influence on the CNS regulatory centres exposed to electromagnetic field, which is used for hyperlipoproteidemia treatment. The cardiomyocyte genome activity was used to distinguish between three types of development of adaptive reactions in the myocard.

[The elimination of stress-related changes in the thymus with the action of laser radiation on the endocrine glands].

Experiments were carried out on male rats to study the stress-limiting effect of impulse infrared laser radiation (0.89 micron). The thymus and thyroid gland were subjected to 2 W localized impulse laser radiation with an impulse length of 7 x 10(-8) sec. and 3.000 Hz frequency. The following data were estimated: thymus weight, thymocyte population, acridine orange binding by thymocyte nucleus, protein content in thymocytes, the level of peroxide oxidation of lipids in thymocytes. It was revealed that the effect of laser radiation depends on the sequence of its application to stress animals rather than on its localization: its stress-limiting features were more effective when applied to stress animals rather than as a prophylactic measure.

[Energy and plastic metabolism of the heart muscle in rabbits undergoing thyroid irradiation with decimeter waves].

The functional state of myocardial mitochondria, the glycogen and nucleic acid contents in myocardium, and morphometry of structural elements of cardiomyocytes and myocardial capillary network were investigated in order to select the optimal regimen of decimeter wave exposures with power density of 10, 120 and 240 mW/cm2 on the area of thyroid gland. It was shown that the thyroid gland exposure to decimeter waves at these intensities resulted in functional shifts in energy and plastic processes in myocardium and capillary blood supply. These changes increased to a considerable extent as the intensity of exposure was increasing and reached the maximum at power density of 240 mW/cm2 but event at this intensity there was not found the injurious effect of decimeter waves on the myocardium.

The functional state of thymus cells following microwave exposure of endocrine glands.

Following local microwave exposure (460 MHz, 120 mW/cm2) of rabbits using fluorescent probes and chemiluminescent analysis, conformational rearrangements in nuclear and cytoplasmic membranes and in thymus cell chromatin of the animals as well as changes in the intensity of the lipid free radical peroxidation were seen. The character of the changes observed depended both on the localization of the exposure and on the number of exposures.

[Mechanisms in the regulation of the level of lipid radiosensitizing agents in yeast cells with different types of radioresistance].

Factors controlling the lipid sensitizers level: the composition of fatty lipid acids, their antioxidative activity, the enzyme systems reactivity (superoxide dismutase, catalase, glutatione peroxidase and glutatione reductase) have been studied in yeast cells with different radioresistance. In six lines of yeast cells the leading role of superoxide dismutase--one of the regulators of lipid peroxidation have been demonstrated in cells native radioresistance formation.

[Nature of physico-chemical changes in the membranes and chromatin of the lymphocyte nuclei in patients with rheumatoid arthritis].

Functional activity of lymphocytes, revealed by means of fluorometric study of the physicochemical properties of the membranes (according to the degree of binding with MBD) and nuclei (according to the degree of AO adsorption on chromatin DNA) was different in patients suffering from rheumatoid arthritis with different blood titers of RF determined by Vaaler-Rose's test. The lowered lymphocyte count in blood plasma was coupled with high functional activity of genome in patients with seronegative RA and with low in seropositive RA patients. Changes in the fluorescence of MBD bound with the membrane differed from those in the fluorescence of AO bound with lymphocyte chromatin. The DNA level in blood plasma of patients with seropositive RA was higher as compared with its levels seen in seronegative patients and healthy subjects.
