Acceleration of ureteral peristalsis by adrenal compression.

Unilateral adrenal compression resulted in bilateral acceleration of ureteral peristalsiswhich could be reversed by an injection of alpha adrenergic inhibitor, providing additional evidence for the presence of adrenergic receptors in the ureter.

Bradykinin: effect on ureteral peristalsis.

Bradykinin, a known smooth-muscle stimulant, affects ureteral perlstalsis in the dog; the changes were judged by cinefluorography, peristaltic pressures, and ureteral perfusions. No effect on urine flow was detected. Experiments with rats also demonstrated the effect of the drug on the ureter.
