[Complex clinical and laboratory characterization of hemostatic disorders in premature neonates with respiratory distress syndrome].

The pattern of time courses of changes in the basic parameters of homeostasis has been studied in premature neonates with respiratory disorders of varying severity in early neonatality. It is shown that in premature neonates with respiratory distress syndrome, all links of the hemostatic system occur and the activity of the major pool of anticoagulants (antithrombin III and protein C) decreases. The most informative indices are proposed for monitoring hemostatic parameters as determination of basic tests, the levels of protein C, D-dimer, and SFMC.

[Influence of acute hemorrhage on erythrodieresis].

Influence of acute hemorrhage on peritoneal and splenic macrophages function and NO production was studied. Interaction of peritoneal and splenic macrophages with autologous erythrocytes was examined the day after the hemorrhage. Concentration of nitrate ions: the stable metabolites of nitric oxide, was measured in peritoneal lavage, splenic cells suspension, blood, as well as in supernatant of peritoneal and splenic macrophages before and after hemorrhage. The data obtained suggest that splenic macrophages of intact rats are more active than peritoneal ones. After hemorrhage peritoneal macrophages activity increases, whereas splenic macrophages remain unchanged. Concentration of nitrate ions is significantly reduced after hemorrhage.

[Effect of sodium nitroprusside on erythrocyte phagocytosis by peritoneal macrophages in white rats].

The study investigates into the role of exogenous nitric oxide (NO) in erythrophagocytosis in rats in vitro. The data indicate that NO enhances the ability of macrophages to adhere and ingest erythrocytes with the rise of nitric oxide concentration in cultural medium. NO influence on red blood cells has been shown to be more significant than its effects on macrophages. The reaction of NO with macrophages results in promotion of initial stages of erythrophagocytosis: macrophages' ability of adhering to the plate and to adhere erythrocytes increases. However, the final stages of erythrophagocytosis are activated just by the influence of NO on red blood cells. Therefore our results have demonstrated that the target point for NO is erythrocyte. We have also confirmed that NO effects are dose-dependent.

[Changes of homeostasis and immunity in the acute period of ischemic stroke].

We studied homeostasis, immunity and rheological blood properties in the acute period of ischemic stroke. As intravascular blood coagulation and depression of fibrinolysis happen the amount of "rough" red blood cells increased as well as their aggregates enlarged in size. These changes haven't been seen in patients with lacunar stroke and transient ischemic attacks. Deep depression of T-cell immunity in stroke and inhibition of total fibrinolysis were observed. The most significant depression of cells immunity was found in patients with poor outcome. We recommend to evaluate T-cell immunity in stroke patients and proceed immunocorrection of necessity.

[The developmental dynamics of the erythroid stem cell in rat hematopoietic organs in ontogeny].

The cellular composition of peripheral blood, hematopoietic organs, and the content of erythroblastic islands of the red bone marrow revealed regular changes of concentrations of the RBCs, hemoglobin and reticulocytes thus corroborating the phenomenon of "early postnatal anemia" in rats. A considerable increase in number of the erythroblastic islands was revealed between the 10th and 45th days of life. Functional reconstruction of the islands in the postnatal ontogenesis was analysed in rats.

[Changes in the hemoglobin content of the erythrocytes in white rats in ontogeny].

The investigation of hemoglobin concentration (HC) in erythrocytes of rats in prenatal and early postnatal period reported HC reduction in the process of animal development, especially marked during the first 5 days of postnatal life. The change in the character of cell distribution by hemoglobin has been established: the decrease in the width of distribution, the shift of histogram to lower values of hemoglobin concentrations, the appearance of marked modal class in adult rats.

[A method of determining erythrocyte deformability].

Red cell suspension filtration through synthetic filters is the most prevalent method for estimation of red cell deformability. A modified technique with the use of cellulose acetate filters manufactured by the Polimersintez Research and Production Amalgamation in the town of Vladimir is suggested. Employment of these filters will help introduce this test in clinical practice.

[The characteristics of the erythron reaction to dynamic muscle loads in the early postnatal period of rats].

The erythron response to muscular training in 2-6-week old rats involved an increase in concentration of erythrocytes accompanied by no adequate enhancement of the hemoglobin synthesis. Changes of the erythrocyte morphometric indices were revealed. Erythropoiesis increased under the influence of muscular exercises. Quantitative changes of the bone marrow erythroid tissue are the basis of this response. The erythron seems to be able to produce and support only short adaptive erythrocytosis during muscular training in young rats, not the long-term adaptive reactions.

Aging↗

[The mechanisms of the development of erythrocytosis during adaptation to dynamic muscle loads].

Dynamic muscular exercises intensified the erythropoiesis within one week and the erythrocytosis within two weeks in rats. An increase in the marrow erythroid cells proliferative activity was the basis of this reaction. The dynamics of this index coincide with the blood reticulocyte concentration dynamics. The serum erythropoietin activity was found to increase considerably. These findings suggest that erythropoietin can increase the erythroid cells proliferative activity.

Adaptation, Physiological↗

[Changes in the erythrocyte system of white rats during conditioning with dynamic muscular loads].

Dynamic physical exercises cause erythrocytosis and an enhancement of total erythrocyte respiratory surface in rats, intensification of the erythropoiesis and an increase of reticulocyte and erythroblast concentration in the blood. Hyperplasia of the bone marrow erythroid cells and activation of extramedullary erythropoiesis were revealed, as well as the phases of this adaptation process.

[Nitrogen oxide in the pathogenesis of glaucoma and cataract].

The content of nitrite (final metabolite of nitroradical) was measured in aqueous humor of patients with glaucoma and cataract. The level of NO formation is increased at the initial stage of glaucoma and decreases with the disease progress. A direct correlation between the level of nitrite in aqueous humor and coefficient of easiness of its discharge was detected. Cataract is associated with a high level of nitrite in intraocular fluid. The results are discussed from the viewpoint of ocular hydro--and hemodynamic regulation and NO involvement in the free radical oxidation reactions, playing an important role in the pathogenesis of both diseases.

[The role of salt regime and modulation of hemorheologic effects of trental in rats with experimental circulatory insufficiency].

Experiments on rats showed that experimental circulatory insufficiency negatively affects the hemorrcological properties. A change in the mineral intake influences some of the hemorreological characteristics. The sodium chloride substitute hyposol (giposol) increased the osmotic resistance reduced the cholesterol level in the erythrocyte membranes On the gyposol background, trental normalized the volume blood flow. Thus, balanced mineral compositions may be a useful additional component in the complex therapy of circulatory insufficiency.

[Characteristics of estrous cycle and phagocytic activity of peritoneal macrophages in rats with experimental endometriosis].

Endometriosis is the growth of endometrial tissue outside the uterus. A rat model of endometriosis was used to evaluate the potential for surgical invasions. Experimental endometriosis in albino female rats was induced by autotransplantation of the uterine endometrium to the peritoneum near the ovary. In all the rats endometrial implants developed into endometriotic tissues. The reproductive function and phagocytic activity of peritoneal macrophages were assessed. Rats with endometriosis had longer diestrus and estrous cycle. Increased number of peritoneal macrophages and enhancement of their adhesion and phagocytic activity were registered.

[Use of alpha-tocopherol in correction of red blood (erythron) system disorders in rats with acute nitrite intoxication].

The erythron system response to acute nitrite intoxication and the possible antioxidant correction was studied in rats poisoned with sodium nitrite with and without pretreatment with alpha-tocopherol. The state of the experimental; animals was characterized by monitoring the peripheral blood parameters, the surface cytoarhitectonics and the hemolytic activity of erythrocytes, the level of methemoglobin and nitrate ions in the blood, and the cellular composition of hemopoietic organs, and the state of intracell erythrodiuresis. It is established that the acute intoxication with sodium nitrite leads to a hemolytic anemia accompanied by reactive ejection of reticulocytes from the red bone marrow, methemoglobinemia, leukocytolysis, and a decrease in the adhesive and phagocytic activity of macrophages. The preliminary administration of alpha-tocopherol leads to a less pronounced intravascular hemolysis of erythrocytes, which is explained by reactivation of the intracellular mechanisms of erythrocyte destruction and by retention of the population of circulating erythrocytes with satisfactory characteristics of the morphofunctional state of the cell membrane.

[Red blood cell system in albino rats exposed to long-term nitrite intoxication].

The long-term intake of nitrates at a concentration of 0.2 g/l in animals affects erythrocytic parameters. The nature of this effect depends on the duration of intoxication. There are three-phase changes in the concentrations of red blood cells and hemoglobin, which accompany the substantial changes of the functional characteristics of erythrocytic membranes. The intensification of erythropoiesis developing under such conditions is based on erythroidal hyperplasia of the red bone marrow and spleen and it is of compensatory significance, by ensuring the recovery of the parameters of the erythrocytic composition by the end of the experiment.
