[Morphofunctional characteristics of the gastric mucosa in subacute local irradiation of the lumbar-aortic region in lymphogranulomatosis].

A decrease in acid secretion by gastric mucosa was registered 10-14 days after irradiation of the lumbal area in six patients with lymphogranulomatosis who were examined before irradiation, 10-14 days and 3-3.5 months after irradiation. Acid production indices came back to normal 3-3.5 months after irradiation. No changes were revealed in gastric mucosa by morphological examination either before or after irradiation. It is suggested that the decrease in acid secretion is due to functional changes in the stomach in response to irradiation.

[Palliative radiation therapy of malignant tumor metastases to the bones].

The results obtained in irradiation of 106 patients with metastases of different malignant tumors in the skeleton are reported. Radiotherapy was carried out on a distance gamma-apparatus by two fractions, with a single dose of 650 or 850 rad. As a result of the therapy, pains disappeared in 32 patients, and in 60 patients these were diminished considerably. A prompt therapeutic effect of the method, its simplicity and effectiveness (an opportunity to raise the capacity of the apparatus and clinic where a patient stays) made it possible to recommend it for practical purposes of palliative irradiation.

[Importance of thermography in the overall examination of oncological patients].

Possibilities of remote thermography for differential diganosis of malignant and bening tumours are described. It helps in more exact definition of tumours topography and distribution for better planning of their irradiation. Diagnostic accuracy at the combined thermographic and radioisotope investigations was proved on 153 women with mammary gland diseases and on 77 women with soft tissue damage. Some recommendations offered concern the improvement of thermovision apparatus.
