We show how the theory of anelasticity unifies the observed dynamics and proposed models of administered-rate products. This theory yields a straightforward approach to rate model construction that we illustrate by simulating the observed relaxation dynamics of two administered rate products. We also demonstrate how the use of this formalism leads to a natural definition of market friction.
Scapular winging, one of the more common scapulothoracic disorders, is caused by a number of pathologic conditions. It can be classified as primary, secondary, or voluntary. Primary scapular winging may be due to neurologic injury, pathologic changes in the bone, or periscapular soft-tissue abnormalities. Secondary scapular winging occurs as a result of glenohumeral and subacromial conditions and resolves after the primary pathologic condition has been addressed. Voluntary scapular winging is not caused by an anatomic disorder and may be associated with underlying psychological issues. The evaluation and treatment of these three types are discussed.
Successful treatment of proximal humeral fractures relies on the surgeon's ability to make an accurate diagnosis. Treatment must be predicated on a thorough understanding of the complex shoulder anatomy, a precise radiographic evaluation, and use of a well-designed classification system. Appropriate and realistic goals must be established for each patient. The patient's general medical health, physiologic age, and ability to cooperate with intense and prolonged rehabilitation are all considerations when selecting the optimal treatment.
