[Effect of early feeding with glucose solution on the incidence of hypoglycemia in dysmature and hypotrophic newborn infants].

Dysmature and small-for-date infants we fed with solution glucosi 20% in a first group of the 12th hour of life, in a second group of the 6th hour. The blood-glucose value in the first three days of life we found in the second group significant greater than in the first group. The hypoglycemia-rate in the first group was 9,2% in the second group 0,6%.

[Trace-element concentration in the human placenta in a strong contaminated environment (author's transl)].

By means of NAA the content of trace elements in human placentae from a strong contaminated environment (Essen) was determinated and compared with former results from Bavaria. The data show highly significant elevation of the concentration of Cd, Cr, La and Br in Essen, which counts for the industrial waste of this region. In contrast the element As is highly increased in placentae from the rural Bavarian districts. This may be caused by the wide spread application of plant protective insecticides in the past.

[Trace elements in the human placenta (author's transl)].

The determination of the mentioned elements was carried out by the neutron activation analysis with lollowing radio-chemical separation. The comparison of trace elements in the human placenta from different regions of Bavaria showed a high concentration of Sb, Br, La and Co in Munich. This fact is explained by the environmental pollution of the large city. Placentas from the Bavarian forest contained a higher amount of Ce and Hg. Cer is contained in the rock of this region. The increase in Hg from that region is unexplained.
