[Hyperplastic processes and endometrial cancer in patients with hormone-producing ovarian tumors].

Status of the endometrium was assessed in 357 patients with hormone-producing tumors of the ovaries of major histological types such as theca cell (161 cases), granulosa cell (123) and mixed theca-granulosa cell tumors (22) as well as androblastoma (23) and Brenner's tumor (28 patients). Hyperplastic lesions of the endometrium, cancer included, were established in 250 (74.8%) patients with feminizing hormone-producing tumors whereas androblastoma patients showed either atrophic or normal endometrium (78.3% cases) and failed to reveal atypical hyperplasia or cancer of that site.

Brenner Tumor↗

[Immunosuppressive activity of the blood serum of patients with cancer of the corpus uteri].

In 40 patients with endometrial carcinoma of I-IV stage reaction of suppression of migration and adhesion of leukocytes (RSML and RSAL) in response to antigen prepared from the same tumour and in the presence of autoserum of blood of these patients, was studied. The index of antibody-forming cells (IAFC) and percentage of rosette-producing cells (RPC) in mice spleen after their infusion before immunization by sheep erythrocytes blood serum of the mentioned patients were also investigated. It was ascertained, that in all cases with using of autoserum of patients with endometrial carcinoma, especially on late stages, significant diminution of positive RSML and RSAL and decrease of IAFC and RPC take place. It was concluded that blood serum of patients with endometrial carcinoma gives evidence of immunosuppressive activity at late stages of the process.

[Differential diagnosis of malignant forms of hormonally-active tumors of the ovary].

Case histories of 427 patients with main histotypes of hormone-producing tumors of the ovaries (201--theca-cell, 177--granulosa-cell, 28--mixed theca-granulosa-cell and 21--virilizing) were analyzed. The problem of differential diagnosis of malignant forms of these tumors by methods of clinical examination was studied. Major statistically significant clinical signs of malignancy of hormone-producing tumors of the ovaries--extension of abdomen and abdominal pain, relatively short duration of case history, bilateral lesions, large size of sessile tuberculous tumors, high level of ascites, especially hemorrhagic one, and comparatively young age of patients--were established.

Adenoma↗

[Realization of reproductive function and hormonally active ovarian tumors].

Reproductive function was studied in 438 women with practically all histotypes of hormone-producing tumors of the ovaries (141-theca cell, 97-granulosa cell, 14-mixed theca-granulosa cell, 11-masculinizing and 26-Brenner tumors). The said function was reduced in 141 reproductive patients (48.8%). It was shown that hormone producing tumors of the ovary do not cause reproductive function to decline. Conversely, it was infrequent or no births in the young age that could have been a factor of tumorigenesis.

[Fibrocervicohysteroscopy in the diagnosis of cancer of the endometrium and cervical canal].

Fibrocervicohysteroscopy was performed in 152 patients in whom cancer of the endometrium or cervical canal was suspected. The said pathology was detected in 33 cases (21.7%). The basic advantages of the procedure described are as follows: (I) atraumatic nature assured by flexible operating part of the fibroscope, (2) clear visualization of the uterine cavity areas which are difficult of access, even in cases of pronounced organic lesions and deformity of the uterus, and (3) possibility of repeated biopsy from any part of the uterine mucosa.

[Malignancy of hormonally active ovarian tumors].

401 cases of hormone-producing tumors of the ovary were studied (190 theca-cell, 169--granulose cell, 25--mixed thecagranulosa cell and 17--virilising tumors). Histological diagnosis, clinical stage and end results of their treatment were compared. Theca-granulosa cell tumor is considered to be the most malignant form of these neoplasms. Pure theca-cell tumor proved to be benign in most cases. Of special interest is a high percentage of patients being cured at stage 1 (FIGO classification) of neoplastic process, that stands, in the authors' opinion, in close relationship with comparatively good results obtained in these patients.

[The principles of the microsurgical plastic repair of the plantar surface of the foot].

An analysis of long-term results of microsurgical plasty of defects of the plantar surface of the foot of different genesis is presented. 64 microsurgical flaps were transplanted. The main long-term complication of the method is the formation of rubs and trophic ulcers in 37% of patients after the restoration of support on the transplanted flap. Causes of the complications in question were established and methods of surgical treatment are proposed.
