Longitudinal fractures of the sacrum: case report.

A longitudinal fracture of the sacrum without an associated neurologic deficit is described. It was treated by bedrest successfully. The case is compared to the usual transverse or oblique sacral fracture: we feel that because the sacral nerve roots were pushed to either side of the fracture there were no neurologic problems in the case presented.

Dress, posture, and setting as additive factors in subjective probabilities of rape.

Subjects indicated the likelihood that a female, photographed in eight situations, would be raped. The situations were created by the Cartesian product of her dress (seductive/nonseductive), posture (aggressive/nonaggressive), and setting (inside/outside). The three variables combined additively with the highest subjective probability of rape associated with the seductive/nonaggressive/outside condition.

Additional evidence for veridicality of perceptions based on physiognomic cues.

This study was designed to determine whether veridical interpersonal perceptions can be found on the basis of physiognomic cues. 21 male and female college students attempted to identify the correct social category [honor student, active or inactive in extracurricular events, and beauty queen (for female stimulus persons) or athlete (for male stimulus persons)] of 44 photographed male and female stimulus persons. Results demonstrated considerable veridicality, especially by male judges and of stimulus persons occupying categories which imply physical attributes.
