A technique for fabrication of an acrylic resin stent that can enhance the success of surgery for meatal stenosis has been described. A temporary stent can be prepared in the operating room and used until the definitive stent is prepared in the laboratory. Both stents are easy to construct and manage.

Patients with Hunter syndrome may have symptoms of hoarseness, stridor and breathing difficulties as a result of laryngeal and tracheal involvement. In planning their evaluation, we must prefer non-invasive methods as X-ray or CT scan, and avoid doing endotracheal intubation or bronchoscopies. Review of adult cases in the literature and description of the only case of a child with Hunter syndrome having life-threatening complications of his upper airways is discussed in this report. In this case and in the literature we cannot exclude intubation or bronchoscopy as a serious aggravating factor, causing further narrowing of the larynx.

We present a case report of a woman with adenocarcinoma of the breast and metastasis to the temporal bone. The diagnosis of metastasis to the temporal bone may be difficult to make, for the symptoms and findings may mimic those of chronic infection. A high-resolution computed tomography scan is mandatory for complete investigation.
The association between malignant transformation and the loss of ABO(H) blood group antigens was documented by several authors. Most of the work was done on paraffin sections, though a small portion was performed on fresh frozen tissues. We suggest that the specific red cell adherance (SRCA) test can be applied to tissues cultivated in tissue culture for determination of malignant transformation. This study supports this assumption.

Otitis externa is one of the most common problems faced by the otolaryngologist, and in some clinics constitutes up to 40% of patients. Although not lethal, it may be a most debilitating disease. The external ear is an epithelium-lined cul-de-sac with many sweat and cerumeniferous glands whose secretions are an excellent medium for bacterial growth. Bacterial surveys done in the USA and in Israel 30 years ago proved Staphylococcus aureus to be the major pathogen. During the years the major pathogen changed, and in recent surveys Pseudomonas aeruginosa was found to be the dominant pathogenic bacterium. The purpose of this article is to present the results of a bacteriological survey done in Israel on patients suffering from otitis externa in the years 1979-1980. A discussion is presented with regard to the meaning of the review. We tried to establish whether a certain factor could be considered to be the cause of otitis externa.

Congenital laryngeal web, congenital heart disease, and low stature occurred in a 23-year-old woman. The patient was a member of a family in which several members were similarly affected. This triad of congenital anomalies is a syndrome that has not been previously reported. The pattern of inheritance of this syndrome is compatible with an autosomal dominant gene.

Bullous myringitis is considered to be a self-limiting disease without complications. Clinical evidence has shown it to be frequently accompanied by sensorineural hearing loss, more often than it was thought to be. The case of a 20-year-old girl is presented in whom bullous myringitis was accompanied by transient sensorineural hearing loss. The site of the lesion was determined to be in the cochlea. We determined, with a high degree of certainty, that the causative agent was mycoplasma.
