[Basal cell nevus syndrome. Presentation of 2 cases. 1 associated with medulloblastoma].

A case of nevoid basal-cell carcinoma syndrome in a four years old girl with preceding familiar history is reported. In her epithelioma father numerous basocellular, milia cysts, mandibular cysts, dentition disorders, brain falx calcifica ted and hiperkeratosis of the sole of the feet were described. Clinically, the girl presented initial migraine and vomits together with macrocephalus, bossing forehead, hypertelorism, physical disorders, retarded maturation, "keel" thorax, genu recurvatum, hallux valgus, hammerfinger, pigmented nevus and hyperkeratosis of the sole of the feet. Radiologically diastasis of the skull suture with jagged image, endocranial hypertension, signs of macrocephalus of the facial bones, calcification of the brain falx, bridge of the sella turcica, bifid ribs and fusion of the ribs was observed. The axial computed tomography showed calcification of the vermix cerebelosus and severe hydrocephalus suggesting the presence of an occupant mass. After total surgical removal of the mass, the histological examination revealed a medulloblastoma. The skin biopsy of a cutaneous nevic element showed a basal-cell epithelioma. With the exception of an ovarian fibroma and fusion of the vertebras non appreciable because of the age. With the exception of the ovarian fibroma and the fusion of the vertebras, the patient showed the same characteristics as those described in the classification of Gorlin. The importance of this paper communication lie on the preceding familiar history, infrequency, compromise of different systems, malignant tendency of the cutaneous lesions and frequent association with non cutaneous neoplasias.

Germinoma of the pineal body with syncytiotrophoblastic giant cells.

Almost all types of germ cell tumors are known to occur in the third ventricle-pineal region. In this paper we report the case of a 16-year-old boy having a particular subtype of germinoma of the pineal body in which scattered syncytiotrophoblastic cells positive for human chorionic gonadotropin were found. This tumor is considered the central nervous system counterpart of seminoma with syncytiotrophoblastic giant cells and dysgerminoma with syncytiotrophoblastic giant cells.

Ectopic immature renal tissue. Report of two cases.

We present two cases of ectopic renal tissue. The first case had a small retroperitoneal nodule near the lower pole of the left kidney, in which the tissue was associated with nervous tissue and differentiating skeletal muscle fibers. The other case presented with a yuxtaepididimal nodule and also contained small groups of ovary hilius like cells. The possibility is raised that ectopic rests like these might be the source of extrarenal Wilms' tumours associated or not with teratomas.

Solitary keratoacanthoma of the nipple in a male. Case report.

A heretofore undescribed localization for solitary keratoacanthoma, namely the skin of the nipple, is reported. The tumor developed in a 69-year-old man who had suffered a trauma in the thorax near the left nipple 5 months before. A possible origin in mammary ducts, considering the breast as a modified sweat gland, is discussed.

Perianal verrucose carcinoma spreading to the rectum: report of a case.

The case of a 39-year-old man with a perianal verrucose carcinoma of 12 years' duration is presented. After local resection the tumor recurred several times and spread to the rectum. An abdominoperineal resection revealed neither infiltration of deeper layers nor lymph-node metastasis. Five other cases of perianal verrucose carcinoma, only two of which were described in detail, have been reported. Probably other examples have been reported under the names of "perianal florid papillomatosis,"13,23 "giant condyloma acuminatum"26 and "condyloma acuminatum with malignant transformation."9,12,27

Adult↗

Osteogenic sarcoma arising in an old burn scar.

An osteogenic sarcoma arising in an old burn scar on the right thigh of a 70-year-old woman is described. Salient features of this rare cutaneous tumor were: a large pinkish exophytic mass, spindle and oval cells, multiple foci or osteoid formation, atypical osteoblasts and multinucleated giant cells.
