Participative management: the power of positive manipulation.
Managers may use manipulative techniques to facilitate personnel management and enhance productivity. Positive manipulation by a manager is purposeful behavior directed at positively meeting the needs of those involved in the interaction. Before a manipulative approach is used, an assessment should be made of personality characteristics and possible areas of vulnerability. Use of positive manipulation includes consideration of the needs of all involved, attention to personality characteristics, and careful selection of approaches.
Anger--how to deal with it on the job.
Anger is not always, and does not always have to be, negative; however, anger in the workplace is often an obstacle to efficiency and negatively affects the work environment. Anger can force the manager to deal with irritants that have been avoided and can result in constructive change. Aside from impairing logical thinking, anger negatively affects problem solving by creating emotional barriers between individuals. Appropriate intervention into anger can enhance not only the manager's personal feelings of well-being but also the health of the organization.

When blaming is used in an interpersonal interaction, the manager should carefully assess the dynamics of the situation. 4. Techniques that help the employees to focus on the real difficulty can help deal with the underlying crisis and gain stability.
How to find the perfect job.
1. Accepting a job offer can either lead to career success or to dissatisfaction and high turnover. 2. The advantages and disadvantages of the offer must be weighed carefully, as well as those of the present job. 3. A carefully designed career plan with well-defined goals contributes to job satisfaction and facilitates the evaluation of offers. 4. A key component of a career program should be recognition of a nurse's needs and the program should be evaluated to determine if these needs are met.
When work isn't fun: how to endure the unenjoyable.
1. Learning to expect and adapt to unpleasant tasks and to cope with difficult days is important for satisfactory adjustment in nursing. 2. Feelings of unhappiness with work may be related to either internal or external events, such as low self-esteem or a verbal attack by a colleague. 3. An attitude of enjoyment enhances not only personal feelings of well-being but also promotes physical health both in the nurse and her patients. 4. The use of humor, focusing on the positive, talking about unenjoyable tasks, and concentrating on bringing happiness to others all help to promote a feeling of enjoyment in the workplace.
