[Survival in gazeous phase and reconstitution "in vitro" of the natural microenvironment of alveolar macrophages].

Alveolar macrophages of guinea pigs laid on a porous membrane applied to the surface of a reservior filled with nutrient fluid, may be maintained in survival in gaseous phase. The addition of biological material obtained by centrifugation of the broncho-alveolar nutrient fluid, creates in vitro a micro-environment comparable to the physiological alveolar or bronchial environment. Examination of these macrophages under the light and electron microscopes, and study of their phagocytic and bactericidal activity, demonstrate the value of this experimental model, which opens new possibilities for research on the means of phagocytic defence of the respiratory apparatus and their disturbances by gases which pollute the atmosphere.

Mediastinal bronchial artery aneurysm: dynamic computed tomography appearance.

Mediastinal aneurysms of the bronchial arteries are uncommon abnormalities with potentially fatal hemorrhagic complications. Their diagnosis is usually made by angiography in emergency situations but computed tomography (CT) scan may depict them in asymptomatic patients. We describe the CT appearance of such an aneurysm detected as an incidental finding in a patient with bleeding bronchiectasis.

[Use of dopamine in the treatment of shock states].

The utilisation od dopamine at an average dose of 6 mug/kg/mn, for the treatment of 19 shock states, is proved to be of particular interest. The lapic action, the special amelioration of the left ventricular function suggest that dopamine is an useful drug in the treatment of circulatory failure and myocardial inefficiency. The renal and mesenteric vasodilatation produced, prevent or treat the acute renal failure of shock. The actions of dopamine are different from those of other vasopressive amines (norepinephrine, isoproterenol, glucagon) and make dopamine on the first drug to treat shock states.

[Abdominal localization of invasive thymomas. Contribution of tomodensitometry].

Routine abdominal and thoracic computed tomography examinations in 20 patients with invasive lympho-epithelial thymomas demonstrated the frequency of abdominal localizations (9 cases), particularly in renal (7 cases) and adrenal (3 cases) tissues. The mode of extension and course during treatment of these tumors are discussed, and the different diagnostic procedures, particularly ultrasonography, are compared.
