[Behavior of mast cells in experimental burns in rats].

The Authors, using a personal dyeing method, specific for mast cells, that they described in a former work, (a modification of May-Gruenwald-Giemsa dye) observed crowd of mast cells in the subcutaneous tissue, below the site of thermal skin burns, in rats. They clearly demonstrate the phenomenon of mast cells degranulation. The granules are released in the subcutaneous tissue, then they go away along the limph vessels, and it is possible to follow them until the limph nodes. There is also crowd of limphocytes and plasma cells; nevertheless, there is evidence that mast cells are the early cells which react to burns in rats. Perhaps it should be possible that mast cells have some immunological function, owing to the contact their granules take with lymphocytes and plasma cells.

[Pheochromocytoma. Diagnostic aspects and surgical treatment. Apropos of 20 operated cases].

Reference is made to 20 cases of pheochromocytoma operated at the surgical clinic of the University of Padua since 1963. Stress is laid on the importance of modern angiographic techniques in diagnosis and their attendant risks and the main aspects of surgical management are examined. The results show that success depends on careful preoperative localisation, choice of a suitable approach route, and correct technique coupled with suitable intraoperative management.

Synthetic bone grafts in peri-implant bone dehiscences: histological results in humans.

This study describes the histological results found in three patients treated with osseointegrated implants and Bioplant HTR (Hard Tissue Replacement) synthetic bone graft in peri-implant dehiscences adjacent to implants. This therapy was carried out without the use of barrier membranes. Bioplant HTR is reported to act as its own barrier and prevent gingival soft tissue migration ingrowth. The histologic picture demonstrated that Bioplant HTR is osteoconductive and biocompatible, and can be used both as bone substitute and as a barrier for guided bone regeneration in implant therapy.

[Taste sensitivity in diabetic patients].

Taste sensitivity of 33 healthy subjects and 120 diabetic patients, either suffering from complication or not, was compared. Diabetic patients showed statistically significative reduction of sensitiveness for some tastes in some oral zones. Taste decrease looks to be related more to vascular of diabetes, than to neurologic ones.

Diabetes Mellitus, Type 1↗

[Taste changes in diabetics. Clinico-experimental study].

A preliminary research was carried out, comparing taste sensitivity of 33 healthy subjects and 120 diabetics patients, either with complications or not. After this, a further analysis of the results was done, collecting the patients into more numerous groups. A significant decrease of the sensitivity for some tastes in some oral areas was attested, as regards diabetics with vascular and neurologic complications.
