[Treatment of dysplasia of the gastric mucosal epithelium].

Examined were 53 patients with dysplasia of the gastric mucosal epithelium revealed at endoscopic and histologic study. In detection of moderately pronounced dysplasia, the conservative treatment of the underlying disease with endoscopic and histologic control every 6 mos is indicated; in severe dysplasia--conservative treatment with dynamic control every 3 mos; in absence of positive dynamics of the dysplastic process within a year, or in suspected malignant transformation--the operative intervention, the volume of which is determined by spreading of the foci of dysplasia. The patients operated on for severe dysplasia of the gastric mucosal epithelium should be under continuous supervision.

[Effect of exogenous neoplasm DNA on the course of Swetz leukemia in non-inbred rats of different age groups].

Experiments on 150 non-inbred white rats have shown that preliminary administration of high polymer native DNA isolated from Swetz leukemia tumor suppresses the tumor growth. Tumor DNA combined with BCG vaccine in young animals suppresses and in old ones stimulates the tumor growth. These results correlate with DNA and CIC content in the blood serum. Due to the tumor growth suppression the animals' life increases by 40%. Administration of BCG vaccine only does not prevent the development of tumor in usual terms.

[Lipidosis of the gallbladder and various forms of cholecystitis].

On the basis of morphologic study of the gallbladders in 224 patients who died from pathology not related to the abdominal organs, 278 gallbladders removed for chronic calculous cholecystitis, and 23--removed for chronic acalculous cholecystitis, the singling out of gallbladder lipidosis into a separate nosologic form is substantiated. Structural peculiarities of lipidosis are studied. Its role in the development of chronic calculous and acalculous cholecystitis is elucidated.

[Clinico-morphological characteristics of gallbladder cancer].

The clinico-morphological study of the development of gallbladder cancer in 85 patients was carried out. It is shown that the macroscopic assessment at operation of the extent of a tumor, peculiarities of its invasion and metastatic growth is not possible. It is necessary to use histologic investigation for this purpose.

[Study of general toxic properties and side effects of polymethylsiloxane and gentamicin immobilized on it].

A long-acting dosage form for local use of gentamicin immobilized on polymethylsiloxane, a silicon organic adsorbent was developed. It combined the antimicrobial spectrum of gentamicin and the local sorption-detoxication action of the matrix. In acute and chronic experiments on 5 species of laboratory animals it was shown that polymethylsiloxane had no general toxic action on the animals, no damaging action on their internal organs, did not affect their functions and the state of the biological fluids, had no pyrogenic or allergenic effect. During gentamicin immobilization on polymethylsiloxane there was observed no increase in the antibiotic toxicity as compared to the nonimmobilized dosage form of the antibiotic. Further study of the immobilized dosage form of gentamicin is advisable.

[Role of impaired regeneration of the mucosal epithelium in the pathogenesis of acute ulcers of the stomach and small intestine].

The method of modelling of acute gastric and small intestinal ulcers by intraperitoneal administration of vincristine at a dose of 0.15-0.30 mg/kg body weight is suggested. The method is based on the property of vincristine to stop mitotic cell division at the stage of metaphase, thus impairing regeneration of the epithelium in the stomach and small intestine. The experiments on 20 dogs have shown that single vincristine administration caused the accumulation of cells with nuclei at the stage of metaphase in the generative areas. Mucosa defects formed at these sites acquired all the features of acute ulcers by the third day. The model demonstrates the pathogenetic role of impaired mucous epithelium regeneration and permits the studies of pathogenesis of acute ulcer formation.
