[Orientation of indications for renal arteriography from arterial time in intravenous urography].

Measurement of the circulation time using dycholium allows us to estimate the arrival time of the opaque medium at the renal pedicle. Xrays taken at a very early stage will show up the abdominal aorta and renal arteries. The pictures can then be greatly clarified by a subtraction technique. In this way we have a method which, with but little change in the traditional technique for intravenous pyelography, enters into the question of whether renal arteriography is justified when it is required to demonstrate only the major arterial vessels.

[Diagnosis of cerebrovascular disorders using stannous technetium pyrophosphate].

A total of 122 cases of various neurological diagnoses (among which 72 cerebral infarcts, 7 intracerebral hematomas and 38 intracranial tumors) had two separate brain scans, performed within 48 hours of each other after the administration of pertechnetate and technetium stannous pyrophosphate. The comparison of the resulting seans indicates that, in addition of an osseous accumulation, the pyrophosphate localizes greatly in ischemic cerebral lesions, especially those observed during the second week of evolution. It seems that the uptake of pyrophosphate reflects the area of anaerobic changes whereas the accumulation of pertechnetate depends on the disruption of the blood brain barrier. The scintigraphic diagnostic of cerebral infarctions is greatly improved.

[Intracerebral hematoma in gamma-angio-encephalography].

The radionuclide angiography, of gamma-angio-encephalography (gamma-A.E.G.), a non invasive method, is able to bring specific information for the diagnosis of intracerbral hematoma (I.C.H.). In 25 out of 32 verified cases of I.C.H. the rapid sequential imaging shows from the arterocapillary time a deeply seated avascular area, which is a quite different aspect from the defect observed in ischemic A.C.V., or malignant tumors. The transit curves confirm the regional of circulating blood pool.

[Atrial systole. Study of its role in the normal subject and in left ventricular insufficiency].

In order to study the importance of atrial systole, the authors used different stimulus modalities at the same rate; they stimulated the right ventricle, the right atrium, and the two. The haemodynamic parameters were monitored by microcatheterisation of both right and left sides. A comparative study using controls and patients with left ventricular failure showed the improvement in the haemodynamic picture which was obtained in the latter group when the atrio-ventricular sequence was correct.

[Hemocynamic role of atrial contraction in the acute phase of myocardial infarct].

The authors have studied the haemodynamic role of atrial systole in patients in the acute stage of a myocardial infarction, usually with left ventricular failure. Their main comparison is between the results obtained with stimulation of the right ventricle at a fixed rate and those obtained with bifocal stimulation, thus restoring the atrio-ventricular sequence. The authors discuss their results, and especially their findings of improvement in cardiac output and systemic arterial blood pressure. They raise the question of synchronous stimulation in cases of infarction with heartblock complicated by left ventricular failure, and also of re-establishing sinus rhythm in cases of arrhythmia of supraventricular origin.
